Do I need to replace cam chain bolts on a 2009 328i (N52)

Hi guys, I have a 2009 328i E92 with about 90,000 miles that I've had sitting around for a while that I'm looking to fix up and refresh.

Gonna do my VCG because its leaking, but wanted to ask you guys if you it's necessary or worth doing the cam chain bolts while I have the VCG off for a 2009 in particular.

I checked online and my car has 0 recalls, and from what I saw it looked like there were only recalls for 2010-2013 or something, not 2009.

If anyone could advise, have any of you guys with an 09 had issues with bolts shearing or backing out?

I could do obviously replace them a a preventative but I'm trying to minimize my repair costs as I have about $5k worth of stuff I need to fix on this car.

If your car isn't part of the recall, then just visually verify they are the correct style bolts (non security type) and leave them.

The current recall is the second recall for this issue. Many of the older cars were covered by the first recall years ago. If your car had this done, there should be a funny looking round silver and black label on the driver's doorjamb. Probably a couple of them at this point, one for every recall performed. You can correlate the info on that label to figure out what recall it was for - searching here will probably do the trick. I did that to figure out that this had been done to my 128i, but it's been too long to remember how I did it.

The NHTSA search won't show recalls that have been performed.
