Tint Question: Any Dot Matrix Woes?
does the dot-matrix pattern in the rear window present any significant problem with tint adhesion? the reason i ask is i am not a big fan of sanding down the pattern or sticking black tape for tint and can live with minor bubbles but some car makes just make it so difficult for tint to adhere and cure properly.

My installer had no problems on the back window. However if you look at the door windows there are also dot patterns along one edge. There was a small part that didn't end up sticking flush. So it can be a problem.

thanks joelk,
slightly ot, any problem with the tint when opening the doors? i understand that the windows crack open when you unlock the doors. i'm concerned that it would mess up the curing process for newly installed tint. |

I worried about that too. My car sat in the sun for a couple of hours before I picked it up. Didn't roll the windows for two days but didn't worry about openni g the door and the small window drop. Turned out fine!

i have the dot matrix around the outside edge of all my windows on my GTI and even above the rear view mirror on the front window (just a stripe, no full front window tinting). No problems with the tint adhering to the dot matrix pattern. I used a credit card a day after I got the tint done to press the tint down inbetween all the specs so you don't get the clearish look of the tint not stuck to the window.
Hopefully that makes sense
