Custom orders?
Has anyone custom ordered something in Canada before? Just wondering if BMW Canada has a list of things that can be custom ordered. bmw.ca doesn't even have the base configurator up yet.
Specifically, I'm hoping to shorten the throw on the shifter. |

I'd wait til you drive the car for a while before shortening the shifter. I've shortened the shifter in almost every car I've owned and I always end up regretting it.
You won't complete gear changes any faster, they'll just require more effort. A mod that actually seems to improve shifting feedback is to replace the rubber bushings with metal ones, gives it a more crisp feeling.

I'm going to second koala. I've owned cars with a short shifter... BMW seems to find a great balance between throw and long term usability. Doesn't improve on speed much, but does reduce the feel.
Totally agree with the bushings to get things less mushy for you.

Have you driven the 135 yet? I found the shifter fine. The throw were relatively short and the feeling was good. I didn't find I was wanting to shorten it up myself.

I did drive the 135 last night. Compared to my 330Ci, the shifter and gearbox are much improved, but I still find the throw a bit on the long side. The stick itself was short, but the throw didn't match it.
