17x9 LTW5's w/255's Fit!! w/Pics
Okay, I really didn't expect them to fit over the brakes, but I just spent $2500 for track tires/wheels last season. AND THEY FIT. On an autocross course.. they rub enough up front to make me change them. << Added 5/13/2008 after first try with this setup between the cones..
I just tried to fit my 17x9 LTW5's with Advan Neova AD-07's in 255/40/17 on the car, and with a 5mm spacer on front, they fit. They might just barely rub the fender, but if they do, it will only be a bit, and fixable by slight roll. I'll drive it tomorrow. Imagine this beast with 16.5lb racing wheels and 255's all the way around! I think I just resolved any understeer I may ever have at autocross or the track. I will have to get concentric hub extenders though. I hate using spacers without the hubcentric ring on them. This may need to go in the Racing forum.. we'll see how it goes here. Paging Mikeo!! I'm sure you'll be happy. |

Test fit today to see if I could transport track wheels in the car. Unfortunately somehow, I failed to take a picture of the mounted tires in the car. 235/45-17, 255/40-17 -- I needed another set of mounted wheels and tires.
They fit -- fold down seat, then three in the back and one in the trunk. I put down a painters drop cloth first.

maybe it's from coming from an M3 mindset, but $2500 for wheels and tires sounds pretty good to me. I spent $4700 on used high quality wheels and PS2's for my E46 M3 last summer. Not a good decision on my part as I had them on the car for only 3 months and they are now for sale. I wish they would fit the 1er. 19x9 front 19x10 rear with 265 fronts and 275 rears....oh, the meat under that car was awesome!!

Hey Larry what are the offsets on those wheels. I have a awesome set of SSR comp-H 17x9 with Pilot sport cups I'd kill to put on my 135i. and do you think with a bit of neg camber the chance of rubbing on the fender might be eliminated.

Larry,
What offset ar the 17's? I have a couple of sets of 17x9 SSR's (offset 45) that I want to stuff in there. Potentially very happy to hear this news also.

Damn, I sold my SSR Comp 17x9 / Hoosier setup after last season as I knew they wouldn't fit the 135i. :bangdesk:

I didn't get a chance to drive it today with those wheels on it, as I was working on the e90 for a good portion of the day. My biggest surprise was that the wheels cleared those big brakes... |

I generally carry them in the truck or the trailer. If I start using the 135 for some track days, I may get some of those totes -- but then again, I might get them anyway, I would rather take the 135 around beltway then the truck (when I get tires).

Larry, H&R makes a 3mm spacer. I used a pair on the rear of my E36 for awhile and they don't require longer wheel lugbolts.
