Measurement needed for "No-holes" front license plate bracket

I plan on buying a "No Holes" front license plate bracket from http://www.gominigo.com/NHLPB-BMW.html and need someone who already has a 135ci to measure from the inside lip of the tow bolt hole to the bumper. There is an illustration on the link of how to measure the length properly.

On that note I know it has been discussed a bit in the past but if there are any new concepts on how to not leave unsightly holes in the bumper but have a permanent/semi-permanent mounting option.

I don't have a car sittng on my driveway, so i can't help you there.

Ever just think about not putting a plate on. Cops would probably never notice unless they were going to pull you over for something else because they would just assume you're from out of state.

I would and had run without a front plate for several years but now I am stationed overseas and must got through the gates everyday to work so I cannot get away with it. I was thinking that I would get one of the gominigo units so I could uninstall it if the next location I am stationed doesn't require a front plate.

I attached my ED plate to the front of my car with 3M double sided tape. If yopu clean the mating surfaces, it should stick on there well. You can then use Goof-off to remove the residue when the car gets back here in the States.

I'm also stuck with being in a state that requires a front license plate as well as having to drive through the gate on base. I gotta say that mounting the plate over the tow bolt hole with that gomingo contraption looks damn awful to me. I can see how 3M double sided tape would work with a Euro plate. But the lower half of a U.S. plate hangs below the bumper. I'm not sure if double sided tape on the top half will hold against the force applied to the bottom half of the plate from air pressure at highway speeds. Has anyone had success with this?

Is this your ED plate from one of your other BMWs? I'm assuming when you do ED BMW puts the plate on for you and drills the holes? My state doesn't require a front plate so my concern is having these holes when I get back from ED.

Does anyone have the answer to the OP? Really want to avoid drilling the front bumber for the NYS mandated front plate.

long story short...finally decided I wouldn't do the tow-bolt bracket due to potential frame damage and cosmetics and when they preped my car with the euro plate bracket they drilled out beyond where the US plate bracket goes...meaning I get a new bumper when I head back to the states!!!

This is another option: http://www.skenedesign.com/FPBracket/plate.htm

The holes are on the underside of the bumper where no one will see them whenever you want to remove the plate.

What is the potential for frame damage using the tow-bolt bracket? The bottom mounted bracket looks like a nice option.

Maryland does seem to enforce the front plate law. State trooper pulled my son in rush hour lat week for no front plate and gave him ticket-$60.

That Skene Design Bracket looks GREAT!!!
Im calling my Salesman right now to make sure they dont drill for the plate.
My car is @ the VPC right now,..Im hoping they dont drill for it there. Does anyone know where the plates get drilled? Dealer of VPC?

I have heard of them drilling the plate at either the VPC or the dealer. I spoke to my guy at Keeler and told him not to drill the front bumber until he hears from me so I can give them the Skene bracket. Hopefully it doesn't get drilled at the VPC.

Any holes are almost certainly installed at your dealer.

At my local dealer (in a state where front plates are required) the holes are not drilled when you take delivery. Instead, when you come back to get your permanent plates the dealer asks you to sign one of two forms before they will give you the plates:
a) Yes, please install the front license plate
b) No, do not install the front plate. I will do so myself to comply with the state laws.

It's common for people to select option B and then simply never install the front plate.

The tape they used for my euro delivery plate could hold a gorilla, I had to bend the metal plate to get it off and they used 4 small strips. There is no way your plate will come off, trust me.

Double sided foamy tape is the solution, not sure why all of those other things are even on the market...
