Steering wheel M buttons

Does anyone know if these actually work? I’d love to be able to switch between eco and sport plus without reaching down.

They cycle between modes. Ie the right paddle will go eco - comf - sport. I would love real m1 m2 modes but that isn’t an option unfortunately!

Yeah they work to cycle through modes.

If you don’t want to buy through alixpress you can get them from infinite autowerks and last I saw they even have the option for oem M switches, for an up charge.

Once you cycle through the buttons, the left is sport, the right will then go to comfort. I found no difference in fuel economy between Eco and comfort, only in ECO you can't go past 80-ish and have no power if you needed it avoid something. It won't do what you are looking for. For me it was great, as I only found those 2 modes useful.

To me it feels like Eco keeps RPMs significantly lower. I find it hard to believe that eco does nothing, I’m sure BMW implemented it for a reason.
I pretty much use only 2 modes, eco individual and sport+

You’ll probably find little economy difference in eco and comfort at motorway speeds. The engine is at a constant rpm for a given power need so eco won’t do much other than perhaps allow coasting, and manage the a/c.

Adding power to avoid something, particularly at 80mph, is usually down to poor driving.

If I am cruising on the highway I’d rather have coasting support than not so eco is doing something. The fuel savings may still be marginal. I go into the office tomorrow and am interested to see where the RPMs sit at 80mph in comfort vs eco.

Cruising at 80 and you’ll be at constant speed in top gear. Why would the rpm differ in modes?

True, theres likely not a difference given the speed/gear. So maybe the only fuel economy benefit is when at lower speeds and in stop and go traffic.

In economy, the car will upshift much sooner at lower speeds, thus keeping the revs low and the engine relaxed, and so save fuel. The trade off is lack of acceleration, as the car will probably be in 5th or 6th at 30-40mph.

I drive mine permanently in 'manual' in Sport +, and shift as I would in a true manual—deciding when I want the car to upshift, depending ion my speed and driving style at any given moment.

Copy, I do the exact same thing in Sport+ when I’m just cruising around.

Eco is pretty much used only when I’m on the highway to and from work with a hot cup of coffee in my hand — I have periods of stop and go, cruising at 5-30mph, and cruising at 80. I think eco pro is the best for this driving situation.

I’m with you. I drive in eco pro because it’s smooth. If I have a passenger I’ll always drive in eco.

My default mode is sport individual though 😂

I don’t know how anyone can stand driving in eco. My lawn mower can accelerate quicker than the car in eco pro. Before anyone says “but it’s not for going fast” yeah I know, but acceleration is neutered to the point it feels dangerous.

When you are cruising on the highway for miles, there’s no need to accelerate. For the off chance I need to pass someone quickly, I do flip to sport+.

I was cruising at 85 today and something does change when flipping from comfort to eco, the engine feels/sounds slightly different but can’t put my finger on what it is. It may be a change in rpm but can’t tell since eco doesn’t show rpm.
