Got my production #...cancelling order if over $45k

I got my production # today for my 135i. I was told it was a February production date and delivery would be the end of March. They didnt expect pricing to be available until 2-3 weeks prior to delivery. It kind of sucks that pricing was not available when the order had to be put it but I can always cancell it at anytime. My current feeling is that the car should be $50k max with all taxes in. I therefore expect the MSRP for this configuration to be below $45k.

2008 BMW 135i coupe
Le Mans Blue metallic with Black Leatherette.

6 Speed Manual Transmission
M sport pkg
Aluminum Glacier Silver Trim

Do you expect this to be a realistic price for the configuration?

My current feeling is that I will cancell the order if the price comes in much over $45k but that may change. Then again I may just take the car and sell it for a few k over MSRP to some rich Toronto yuppie that has to have the first of a new model in town.

Yeah the whole "no pricing yet" is starting to get under my skin...a lot

Like you, I have a set price in my head and it if it's over that price, it becomes really hard to justify spending that much. 45k sounds reasonable to me for a 135 w/ M sprt pkg.:iono:

Here's my guess on your pricing.

$42k for 135i base MSRP
$3k for Msport package
$800 for paint
$2k for PDI/BS
$6k GST/PST

$54K TOTAL

Sorry, I do believe that under $50k all-in is not achievable. But I hope I'm wrong. BTW, I've also worked this configuration through with my sales person, who came close to this number as well. This configuration also excludes some basics such as a sunroof and electric seats, which may be fine for you.

If it wasnt for the fact that I need a new car now I would wait and get one form the US in about a year. My girlfriend lives in the US and is moving up here in about a year so she could bring it here when she moves and avoid a lot of the importing bs.

I think 3k for the M sport package is absurd. If the package is over 2k there is no way I would have ordered it. I guess that is the drawback of getting one early and ordering without pricing.

I think M sport is between 2-3. Even if it's 2, you're looking at 53K all in. And it doesn't matter that it's $15k cheaper in the US. This is Canadian pricing which is already an anomoly when it comes to the rest of the bimmer lineup.

Not really...

If she just move in Canada (visitor permit, work permit, study permit), she can do the importation without paying taxes but, cannot sell the car to you... Also, you need the title of the car with her name on it, with the stamp of the U.S customs...

The only way for a non-canadian to import a car in canada without paying taxes is to become a new immigrant and then, after 1 year in Canada, can sell the car to a canadian citizen... But, it's only a exemption of taxes... You still have to pay the RIV fees...

Thats dead on what I put in the excel spreadsheet I used to calculate what I assumed the price would be when I ordered mine except I pegged the sport pkg at $2200.

holy crap...what makes you guys think the M sport will be 2500-3000?...I mean the 135 has standard sport seats and suspension so it's basically some M emblems and different rims...which are the same sizes as the standard.

...personnally, if I was looking at a 135 instead of 128 I don't think I'd bother with the "sport" package.

At around 2800 it's expensive for the 128, but at least there you get the suspension, seats, and 18's...

Msport pckg has:
*upgraded wheels
*anthracite roof liner
*M steering wheel
*M entry sill
*M driver footrest
*M short shifter
*high gloss shadow line
*sport seats

I think the marketing dept will see this as enough justification to gouge at least $2.5k. I hope I'm wrong and they're more philanthropic than I give them credit for.

Hi,

I'm brand new to the site - I was at the Montreal car show last night and I'm sure you've all seen pictures of the car there; it has the M package and the premium package (but no M door sills or footrest). According to the rep (and I'm not saying he can be trusted - this particular set-up should go for $48K before taxes.

I certainly hope you're wrong.

Using your prices, the options I'd want put the 135i at ~$52K before tax.

The same speced US car comes in at ~$41.5K.

BMW Canada can't be dumb/greedy enough to price the car at over $10K more, can they? :iono:

BMW is definitely that greedy, and some customers are that dumb (me included) to most likely fork over the money to BMW.

Why not? It's worked for them so far with every other model. The savings between a top end 5 series US/Cda is about 18K. They still sell many 5ers in Canada. People want their product. They pay. Why would BMW Canada price any differently if sales are swift?

... BMW, like every other business, will try to make as much $$ as they can

But here's to hoping that common sense will have an influence and make the Cdn prices reasonable:drinking:

My last statement was rhetorical

We really should be insulted if that's the case, however.
