Cell phone holder for center console?

BMW has a cell phone cradle for the 3-series that both charges the phone and acts as an antenna.

Can anyone confirm that there is in fact nothing like this for the 1-series, and that there is a 12v outlet in the center console nonetheless?

Not for every phone, though. And yes, there is a 12v outlet underneath the armrest.

The cradles are compatible across the range, including the 1er. If your 1er has bluetooth then you can insert the cradle into the receptacle which is inside the armrest. The upcoming iPhone cradle will also be compatible.

Like all the other cars, the cradle is purely for charging the phone and using the external phone aerial. You can have the phone in your pocket or in the boot (trunk) and it will still work with the bluetooth system.

There is also a 12v outlet under the armrest next to the USB & Aux In ports. There is also a iPod pocket glued to the underside of the armrest.

Cheers,

Paul

Here is a start:
http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Conte...etoothFAQ.aspx

Bottom right, select 'Compatible Phones'

Here is a UK list:
http://www.bmw.co.uk/bmwuk/bluetooth/

Of course, it works with many more phones than are listed there but these are the ones that BMW has 'officially' tested.

For example, I have a Nokia 6230i which works perfectly and it has a snap-in adapter.

Cheers,

Paul Martin

I am kind of a phone addict as well as a 1Addict, and have yet to find a bluetooth phone that doesn't pair with my e90. The few that did not initially pair, I updated the phone via firmware flash, and everything paired completely, including address book. Just got a AT&T Tilt (8925), and it works flawlessly. Btw, that phone has a built in GPS, and I have TomTom loaded on it. It does voice navigation, and bests the capabilities of my iDrive nav.

Wow, that list of compatible phones is pretty short. That would be disappointing if my Samsung Upstage wouldn't work.

I have an upstage, and I googled it before (sorry, no links right now) and it DOES work with BMW Bluetooth wireless technology (with other cars of course, but I DOUBT it won't work in the 1)
