What car to replace 435i with?
I'm looking to replace my 2015 435i GC but can't figure out what I want. Wanted a M340i but prices are just way too high and I can't justify spending at least 40k for a 4 year old car. Not really liking any other vehicles. Audi's are overpriced and plain looking. Mercedes same but worse since they are geared for the elderly. The jap brands don't really do it for me even though they are built better than the germans. I guess I'm stuck with this car until it falls apart which will probably be less than a year.

Get a 440i/GC and get into a B58. It's not much of an upgrade but the B58 is great. Or get an F82.

+1!! If you can’t swing an M340i or don’t want to then get a late model F36 440i Gran Coupe. You cannot beat having the B58 and the ZF8. It would be a shame to let the B58 pass you by. Dude, you’ve been at this for a year now.

Yeah man I upgraded from a 430i. Not much of an upgrade but had to get into a B58 and no regrets.

440i or even F83 M4. So much tuning capability and real headturner.

That's exactly what I did. F36 with B58 engine = great choice if you want to continue but enhance the driving experience you are comfortable with. |

You have at-least three more years before any major maintenance requirements.

Don't waste time with the B48. Go with a B58. This is truly one of BMW's best engines.

Not sure what you're looking for, but a 340i or 440i are decently cheaper than their G gen counterparts. Not sure it'll provide a much different experience than your 435i though if that's what you're looking. Another option could be a Kia Stinger or Genesis G70 if you want a sedan. An F80/F82 could be nice, but lower-mileage ones are around 40k for an older car than the m340i.

I’m kind of in the same boat. Got a 335i with 90k miles and looking to get another manual car. Not sure what the next car should be - looked at G80 M3 ( nice but expensive and maybe too fast ), GTI/Golf R also nice but a bit of a downgrade I think. Even looked at Mini’s but too small. Slim pickins out there.

I've got a 2015 435i with Stage 1 BM3 and LSD (plus small stuff like BC Forged wheels)...
Currently weighing the M2 (gen 1), Newer CPO M4 (but the price tag is plain nuts), New M240i (all great but that rear end, sheesh), and Newer CPO M440i... But at top is the Tesla Model 3 Performance. You can get brand new out the door for around $55k or 1 year old CPO for $50k in NorCal. 1/4 miles in less than 12s, .95g+ handling... it's kind of hard to ignore. And if you need the room, the CPO Tesla Model S 2021+ models (new interior) is hovering at just under $60k. Choices...

I have s 440 F36. I keep looking at M3s and Audi RS5 Sportbacks. Then I look at PCP prices here and they're a joke - £600+ per month! I'll be keeping my F36 a while longer. It gives me 90% of the performance I want, all of the comfort, and significantly lower servicing costs

I would steer away from M340 or M440. I would look towards a 2017 or 2018 340 or 440 GC. B58 is too hard to pass up. Just keep in mind, at least in my market area, anything with M-Sport bumpers are inflated a decent $2,500-$5,000 USD. Give or take a package here and there. You can always purchase a car with poverty bumpers, then upgrade
Highly reccomend B58 with ZF trans. Absolute dig monster. Easy upgrade path. Relatively low cost to upgrade. B58 is reliable(as long as kept up with standard service schedule) |
