That price is recockulous high for the power given. I would like to see the gains on a dyno to be a believer. One thing for sure, it will probably be bug free, so that is nice.

99 times out of 100, they don't care. One guy got voided on E90post, but he took his car in with parts laying around incorrectly in the engine bay, and the SA obviously wanted to make an example out of him.

My local dealer doesn't care at all. I take my car there and they think its cool and all ask for the keys, which I am happy to turn over. Some of the techs/CAs there have XEDEs, TTs, etc.

The wisest thing to do is ask your dealership how they feel about those things before you consider installing them.

~27% more dealer installed HP for 2k sounds like a deal to me. So what if shiv is a few hundred less. For me I would rather sport the Dinan badge anyday.

the wisest thing to do is remove them when you go to your dealer for service. if that is to much work or to much risk for anyone then that's not the right product for them. I'd say for the average person this dinan flash, the Turner motorsports flash or the TT would be the way to go.

+1. I'd like to see a dyno chart but sounds good to me.

384hp / 421 tq

That's pretty aggresive for Dinan. They tend to more conservative output for their big bucks. IIRC, the Dinan/BMWNA partnership is over.

Ahh, just noticed that the top speed governor is removed with the Dinan software and that it is a flash (no piggy-back nonsense). I ran the $900 Dinan Stage 5 software on my E36 M3 and it was excellent.

You guys have so much faith in Dinan... any of you heard what happened to the Z8 guys? Totally lost my confidence in them. I'll wait to see what happens with this flash. I also don't like how a dealer could re-flash your Dinan and you'd be so out of luck.

For just a reflash it's way to much.

Thats ridiculous for a re flash. I paid around 600 for the cobb tuner for my wrx and it has like 15 maps including turbo upgrade maps. So if the Dinan and BMW partnership is over then why by their product if it is not covered by warranty and expensive?

Not a problem, they keep you on file and if you need it reflashed, simply go to an authorized DINAN installer and they'll reflash you for free.

I like my warranty... so the $700 extra for the Dinan flash at my dealer is well worth the piggyback Procede!

Both are great tunes, I just prefere DINAN. BMW encrypts their ECU, so the only way for a tuner to "flash" it is to break the encryption (impossible) or work with BMW and pay a fee to have the software "kernal" tunable.

Shiv would love to have full use of the ECU.. instead of using his very skillfull tricks.

I'm not really in the know on tuning, what is the difference between a piggy-back and a flash and what are their respective advantages/disadvantages? I would likely stick with Dinan if I did anything while under warranty.
