Is it normal for no history?

Hi guys, just got a 440i a few months ago. I got an extended 4 years warranty and they said they would CPO the car. Only 1 previous owner and 0 accidents.

My question is, is it normal that my service history is blank in my software?

It comes with 3 years maintenance and I don't see a single one posted on the car. I also got the 4-year maintenance package.

The dealership said it's normal? The only history is the first ever service with 8KM when the vehicle was first purchased. Not even when I purchased, theres no info.

Im also curious, when they CPO, do they check EVERYTHING? I have vibrations when I hit 70KM, feels like its in the whole front end coming from the steering wheel.

My car also makes cranking sounds when turning the wheel while in Drive mode but fully stopped, turning to either end.

Is there anything I should do like maybe get a PPI? Or any other maintenance that I can do that BMW wont normally do, just to keep the car in top shape?

Congrats on the new ride! The 440i is a great car.

It's normal not having servive entries in the iDrive. Mine doesn't have any and there's no menu entry for it. Shops have to actively add entries after something is done which I don't believe is a requirement since you're not the first person that has mentioned the same.

I'm not sure on the details but sounds like there's an issue they missed if it has already been CPO'd. Be sure to have them fix issues right away. It's too late for a PPI unfortunately since you already bought it. Maybe someone with more experience can chime in with what may be wrong.

Haha thanks man, you were helping me out in my last thread too!

I'm glad the services don't need to be written just in case I ever wanna sell it, looks like the previous owner and I maintained it well.

And for PPI, I meant as just a secondary inspection in case BMW is lying and they didn't wanna fix the original problems? There is a shop with great reviews, they only work on BMWs and do PPI. My neighbor has a crazy 335i he built everything there.

Or should I just call BMW and mention this to them?

I get no service history on mine. If it's a thing, I don't think it's a Canadian thing....

BMWNA doesn’t maintain a database of a car’s service history that is available to the retail buyers of the car for U.S. customers. I doubt they do for Canadian owners either. Even the original owner. If you want to keep up with your service history it’s on you to retain your receipts.

Bring it up to BMW as soon as you can. If they give you sh*t contact BMW NA and get them involved. A CPO car shouldn't have any issues. Do you have the CPO checklist showing what all was checked? It's up to you but you could get an indy shop to diagnose it and give you a quote on what needs done and you could show that probably wasn't checked during the CPO process. Good luck!

There was a thread somewhere that showed someone that could see past history in the iDrive. I could not, but I don't remember if they were a NA customer though....

The last 3 used BMWs I've purchased, I went to a BMW dealership Service dept. with my registration, to show ownership, and asked them to print out the vehicle's service history. All did so without issue.

I think it was EU cars that had service history records. Don't quote me on that though.

I think this is my best option. Gonna contact them and see what they say.

I did not get a checklist of what was done, was I supposed to get one?

Ok awesome, at least if I ever sell the car it's possible to ask for receipts. Gonna ask for records next time I go to BMW to have them just in case.

Yes you should have received the CPO checklist while doing the paperwork.

Dang, gonna check my paperwork at home, hoping I missed a page.

If they didn't provide this, does that mean they didn't do a full inspection?

The vibrations also just started around 55 -60km today, was only on highway passing 70km beforehand.

This is what the checklist looks like in the U.S. or something similar. There are various updated versions and they don’t always use the most updated version. They are supposed to give you a copy, but they rarely do.

Okay, no way I would've missed all that when reading through the documents. They definitely did not give me that.

Is there a chance they didn't check anything CPO and just sold me the car seeing as I am having some issues now?

Really hoping I didn't get scammed.

It’s very unlikely. If they did then your car would not actually be a CPO. They have to submit the inspection report to enroll the car in the CPO program.

Should I call and ask them for the list to prove they actually CPO the car?

Or just call them, let them know what is the problem and have them fix it.

It said CPO warranty in the documents. When I paid for extended warranty they said they would CPO my car.

I got a day off Monday so going to a Euro shop to see if they're good and can give me info on the problem. Also gonna pass by BMW and let them know the problems/ ask for checklist.

The MyBMW app will show if the car is actively enrolled in the CPO program.
