US pricing for 135 will be

Only $3,000 less than the current 335 coupe. This is according to a friend who works for BMW. The information was released to them this morning along with ordering that will start at the end of october. He says he is very confident the info is accurate.

From which current coupe? You need to be more specific.

no kidding. the 328i is 35.5k and 3k less than that for the 135i would be a great deal.

i would assume the OP is speaking about the 335i coupe though ... 37k would be a little steep in that case.

I would imagine he's referring to the respective 328i and 335i coupes.

Which would mean $33,075 for the 128i and

$38,575 for the 135i.

If true (and I'm highly doubtful), the 1er will be a massive...

335i MSRP 40.8k - 3k = 37.8k
same issue with the 328i price you quoted unless they've raised prices.

i don't believe it (not calling OP a liar at all ... btw) I'd still get the 135i at that price but it would really be a crazy price imo.

I know which one I cant/won't afford now!

Seriously though, lets just wait till November when they put it up on the website before we start in on the bitching.

Yikes, I thought I was being pessimistic when I said $29,950 for the 128i and $34,950 for the 135i. If they really do come in at $33K & $38K respectively, I can't imagine these cars selling very well at all. A lot of buyers would say, "Geez, at these prices, I may as well just get the 3-series." Of course, perhaps that's exactly what BMW wants to happen.

He knew how excited I was for this car that he sent me a text message in the middle of his meeting. He said the sales staff is really disappointed with the pricing. He said they are approaching it as a new class of BMW, but its going to be a complete flop if this is the case.

The whole purpose of the 1er is to get new butts into BMW seats that can't afford the 3er.
Then... up-sell them later.

JMO, but $3k diff isn't enough to accomplish that goal.
I think it needs to be in the $5k range

If that is the case (3k cheaper coupe to coupe), I'll be taking my name off the wait list for a 135i Convertible. Once you option up the car, it is not worth it and will not hold it's resale value.

No way the 128 is coming in at $33k. BMW already has said that it is going to be <$30k.

that's a very good point. additionally i don't believe the OP ever said that. i believe the OP was exclusively discussing 335 v 135. but that then raises the issue of the HUGE price difference between the 135 and the 128 ....

no offense to the OP but i'd definitely not panic until mid november, jmo.

That is correct. I have my name on the list to order the 135, and I told him to let me know as soon as he had pricing and ordering info, so he sent me a text message from his meeting as he got the info.

It would have to be $3k less than a 328, because who wouldn't pay $3k more for a 335 over a 135.

If this is in fact true, I think BMW is going to be the laughing stock of the auto industry.

Who in their right mind is going to but a car with smaller interior space, less content & only a tiny difference in price?

At this price point a 135i with leather, Sport Pack, and Premium, is right in the price range of a nice used E46 M3.

Guess which way I'll be going?

3k less than a 328i coupe makes much more sense once you start adding on the goodies.
