Just got the call from the Dealer

Dealer called yesterday and said that they are starting a list. As of that phone call they said only one other person had signed up. They said that the $1000 deposit needed to get a place on the list is fully refundable. My question to all of you is, should I put down my deposit to save a space, or should I just wait (as like many of you said its not like it should be a hard car to get)? The salesman I have been speaking with said they probably wouldn't get pricing for a few more months with production starting in December, but that they would be selling the car at MSRP, with no special deals with leasing as they do with the 3 series (dont know exactly what that means, probably higher monthly costs?)

Just wait!!! People on the list will be paying MSRP and maybe a month later they will be discounting it!!

I highly doubt you will see any discounts for at least a year.

For those leasing, a 335i may very well be more economical to lease, seeing the current deals BMW is offering....

The 335i lease deal is $529 a month with around 3500 down. Hopefully the 135i lease will be better than that.

The guy I have been speaking with said that, apparently the "deal" given on the 3 series leases won't be offered with the 1-series seeing as it will be a hot new car, could mean still less than 335, but not proportional to the price difference

Yeah, which should make the decision between the two even harder if the 135i comes in at $35k+.....:iono:

The last time (literally, I will never do that again) put a downpayment on a car that was supposed to be produced and sold in the US was the Lotus Elise. Put $1000 down about 10 months before they arrived.

Predicted pricing was like $34-35k originally. Then, as pricing finally was released a few months before actually deliveries, it was right on $40k for a few bells/whistles/options plus tax/etc...

So, I kindly got my deposited returned to me and sold my S4 and got an 2003 M3. No disappointments on that so far, and it was used. Which is something else I won't do, buy a new car off the lot again. Depreciation will put a beatdown on you.
