I'm 6'6... will I fit in a 1 series?

Hello all,
I am a new member to this forum, but a long time BMW fan. I am 6'6, and am in the market for my first car. (I'm 18.) As I am on a sub 30k (or possibly a few k lower than that) budget, the only new BMW that could be an option for me is the upcoming 128i coupe. That being a compact car, I am wondering as to whether or not I am going to fit comfortably in the driver's seat of this car. I'm not concerned about someone fitting behind me... I know there's no chance of that happening. I fit comfortably enough in my sister's '03 Jetta, so I'm assuming that I'll be okay in this, but what do you guys think in terms of of head, leg, and shoulder room in the driver's seat. And on another note... do you think I'd be able to get a reasonably optioned 128i for around 28k? All I'm really looking for are leather, power seats, and auto climate control. Thanks for your help guys...

faux leather would probably be adequate... I read some posts saying that it was better than expected

I'm close to 6'5 and I've never had problems in any BMW before...including the E30 3-Series which is smaller.

Yeah, i'm 6'5 and fit in a Mazda 3 just fine. The ergonomics of todays cars are fantastic. Telescoping wheels pretty much took care of it for tall peeps.

1 thing you may want to consider is that BMW manual seats offer more headroom than the power seats by an inch in height. I'm 6'3" and just fit in my e90 330i with a helmet on (height-wise), and I have power seats. I've been in e90's with manual seats and there's a lot more room above my head, with and without a helmet. The seat goes way further back than I need it though. You'll probably be fine, but I wouldn't want to sit in the back seat behind you.

Same with cars without sunroofs, but I'm pretty sure 135i's in US will have both power seats and sunroofs stock (2" of headroom lost), right?

I'm 6'7". Based on the listed headroom, I think you should fit that way, but I'm unsure on the leg/knee room. I'm very equal as far as legs vs. torso length and more often run into knee room problems. I've also previously own and E36 M3 with sunroof and fit in that (barely). Both cars have similar headroom measurements. Unfortunately I can't take the chance of not fitting in the 135i and will have to try it before I buy.

It is highly likely that you cannot get the 1er with no sunroof in the States, but it will definitely be available without power seats. The 3er is as well.

You are correct re: the E92. The moonroof is standard, power seats are optional.

I don't know. Maybe it was all of the toast I liked to eat and milk I drank. I had a good start though, as my dad is 6'6". Now that I think of it, there isn't a single male on my mom or dad's side of the family that isn't over 6' tall.

6'6 should be fine, my friend is 6'5 and he fits ok in his E46 which is pretty close in size to 135i. I can't say that he's able to stretch completely, but he's ok, according to him
