New Car and Driver: weight and pricing
Nothing is certain until the official specs are announced, but just for the sake of adding another data point, I figured I'd post that the new Car and Driver states...
"We estimate that the 1-series should weigh at least 200 fewer pounds than a comparable 3-series" and "we're expecting a base 128i coupe to wear a $27,000 price tag and a 135i coupe to come in at $33,000." I hope they're right about both aspects!!! |

Maybe we ought to start up a Starbucks Anonymous?

Some of their specialty drinks are pretty good, but I think it's mostly about the social experience of taking a break. Going for coffee is the new millenium's version of a smoke break. I find that it's more of a group thing as I rarely go there alone. Back on topic... Can you imagine a 128i M Sport at under $30K? Now that would be a deal. But it's not gonna happen and frankly I have some doubts as to the availability of the M Sport package on the 128i. This waiting is painful. |

sorry, last OT comment: coffee breaks are great, just dont go to starbucks - youre feedin the machine!
yeah we'll have to see about the availability of the msport on the 128 but i think it would be within the intention of bmw to offer that car for right around or just under 30k |

I would prefer a 135i M Sport, but would consider a 128i if the M Sport package is available. I don't think that I'm in the market for a base 128i. YMMV. OTOH I would love a 123d M Sport, but I don't think it will be in the cards until 2009 or 2010. Is BMW listening? Do they care? Do I need help? |

JMO, but it will never happen; ..they want to entice you to move up to the 135i. The body kit should be available as a dealer install, but that still doesn't get you the suspension & brakes.

Unfortunately, I doubt that we will see it as well. The body kit alone just doesn't do it for me, so I'll be aiming for a 135i M Sport.
