Alpine White as a Colour??

Looking at a 520D G30 in Alpine White at the moment, not really a colour I would be interested in but this car has pretty much every option - Harman Karon, Comfort Pack, Memory Seats and M-Sport Pro Pack.
It's got the Sun Protection Pack with the darkened back side and back window.
The colour is starting to grow on me with the Black and White contrast looking pretty good, but asking if anybody who has this Colour has any regrets or are they happy with their choice, anything good or bad about it being White that I am not thinking of?
In general I don't think the Colour range offered by BMW is as spectacular as it could be. I have a 2017 Bluestone G30 at the moment, like the Colour but there are so many nice Blues that BMW could offer...(Estoril Blue??).
Anyway would love to hear opinions on Alpine White.

Of course the color you like is what ultimately matters. But my wife loves Alpine White and has had Alpine White with Beige interior 3 series sedans since 2008. The color combo she really most loved was on a 1980 528i we had--White with a dark blue interior. A dark blue interior color was offered by BMW from time to time after that but is very hard to find. When we drove across country in the '80s we mounted a black "bra" on the front of the white 528i to minimize bugs and stone damage. Back in those days we also had CBs. Her handle was "Lone Ranger". Got quite a few laughs from truckers. If you are old enough to laugh at that, you know how old I am. --Bob

I've got mineral white on my X5. It is pretty much Alpine with metallic. It is the first white BMW I have had as I gravitate towards the glossy wet looking colors.

Here is my take after living with it and washing it for the last 6 months. White hides a lot, but at the same time, it does not give me that WOW when clean. It never really looks dirty and it never looks clean. It is a nice safe color. It will hide water spots and swirls. Very easy to dry because you can't see anything. On my CBM, it take several passes to eliminate all water droplets after washing. It's a pain, but when I am done, there is SO much more satisfaction in that WET CBP vs. the MEH white.

Depends on what is important to you. Dark glossy colors show more and generally require more in terms of product and paint corrections.

The other thing about white - Iron spotting sucks.

This sums it up perfectly. I have 5 black cars, and despite living in sunny San Diego, they get filthy in a second and it's always noticeable. I'm getting older and lazier, and since I'm not planning on stepping up my car wash game any time soon, the next car is going to be white or silver.

I had three "Stormtrooper" BMW 5 series, two F10 and one G30. I love Alpine White, it accentuates the curvature and angles of the car really nicely, plus its incredibly easy to maintain as opposed to metallic and darker color.

The new X5 is perfect for White for me, because like you, the older I get the lazier I get. I honestly don't care too much about this car, well, nothing compared to how much I care about the M550. White serves me well here as I don't look at it and say, damn it is filthy and I need to wash and have it hanging over my head.

I still enjoy detailing, but I have a Jet Black E39 540 as well and I am glad I have the low maintenance X5 in white.

I did the silver thing on an E38 many years ago. As much as dark glossy colors are a PIA, the rewards far outweigh the "safe" colors. There is nothing like a glossy black, blue, graphite, etc. clean car at dusk.

Exactly. it all depends on what you value. It's also very subjective and personal at the end of the day.

But spot on, super easy to maintain.

I know, huh! Our F10 is Carbon Black and it gets dusty just sitting in the garage! I finish cleaning the top and by the time I'm done with the hood, the top's showing signs of dust again. That's why I opted for Bluestone on the G30. It will show dust, but not as readily.

Just picked up my M550 in Alpine White today. It was the only color that did it for me. Love it

Just a comment on your next choice - I ended up with a Champagne Quartz Metallic M550 (now called Alvite Grey). I also love dark cars. Passed on a few white ones with great options. Objectively good looking cars but not for me.

Anyway, I just sort of happened into CQ and it’s a great in between color. It has enough pop to really show off when detailed. But it hides enough to go a couple weeks of normal weather and driving without driving me nuts. Instead of looking as dirty as a black or my old Dark Graphite would, it just sort of dulls and pops less. Right now a normal person would say my car looks pretty clean. I know it’s potential and am crazy, so I say it’s dirty. But my point is, you might find something similar that suits your current desire for effort without going all the way to white or silver.

I do like silver, though.

On the white… to me, nothing worse than a filthy white car. My mother has an AW Range Rover. Looks pretty sloppy when dirty. Personally, white has too little upside when clean with too much downside when really dirty.

Agree 100% on your color. I love it and I would not put it in the category of safe but boring colors. CQ is a chameleon.

I’ve had white before on an X5 although mineral white and really liked it.

I would recommend though ensureing you really like the colour and wait if it’s not your choice. I bought a G30 in Sophisto Grey it had every option and more (HUD, adaptive LED, comfort seats, adaptive cruise etc) the ultimate spec for me but wasn’t a huge fan of the colour I thought it would grow on me but it hasn’t.

I think having come from a Ferrari Red F36 I miss the bright colour and would change car tomorrow for something a bit brighter…..
