Build your own 1er coupe

No, no scoop on the "build your own" feature from BMW. This is more a chance for members to build their own 1er coupes without the limitations of the as yet announced packages, though I suspect whatever ideas suggested here in the inclusion of your own 1er coupe build will not be far off base from what will actually be on offer.

So as I don't need a 135i, :headbang: I begin:

128i coupe
-6 spd auto. (no time for shifting in congested L.A. in combo with my 6'5" frame
-ZSP - What is a BMW without it?
-Red Boston Leather, if no red leatherette.
-Titanium trim
-Space Grey, if not available Sterling Graphite
- USB/I Pod adapter

:roundel:

Mods:
-Straight pipe installation- if the sound isn't to my liking in stock configuration.
-M kit from BMW and M wheels - a big maybe, not sure if I'd want to spend the extra investment into a money losing proposition.

135i:
Alpine White w/ Red interior preferably but dont feel the need to invest in leather (depends on leather/Premium Package cost)
Otherwise, Montego Blue w/ Beige leatherette (praying for some good leatherette choices)
Would love Dark Gray Poplar Wood
BMW Assist
USB Adapter (not sure if I need this)
Definitely need Sport Seats if not standard (UK Brochure states that the 135i in UK Spec gets standard Sport Seats)
Upgraded Sound System (depends on how good the standard system is)
Power Memory Seats (if not standard and dependent upon price if optional)

Otherwise, nothing else is required, especially with the 135i getting all the performance equipment standard...

The goal really is to not spend more than what is absolutely necessary. However, somethings are much wiser to get done stock than go the aftermarket way (iPod connectivity, sound system upgrades, etc.)

• 135i manual
• Monaco Blue, Sedona Red or Sparking Graphite - need to see some 1er's in the flesh to make that decision
• Simple interior - most likely cloth (if it comes with the lumbar - MINIs did not....) Hopefully manual seats
• Cold weather pack - need my heated seats!
• iPod control

Other than that, it seems like everything else I would want comes on the 135i: Xenon, sunroof, DSC, OBC, massive brakes, good looking rims.

Only thing that I don't see available for the 135i is fog lights, kind of a bummer. I am a bit of a lighting freak, MINI has Hella 1000 driving lights! I guess I could add my own fogs...hmmm...would the 1000's look out of place on the 1er?

Oh - yeah, i forgot! The magic limited slip from the M3....

Mine will be as follows:

135i
Montego Blue Metallic
Black interior w/Dakota Leather Upholstery
Brushed Aluminum Trim
6spd manual (preferably auto but all depends on price)
Paddle shifters if I go with auto
Sat Nav
Cruise Control
and iPod/USB Adapter

Everything else I could want is already included.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that pretty much the same as getting a 135i?

How is that the same when a 135i with same options is prolly going to be at least $5k more? And I don't want a base 135i.

EDIT: Also it looks like BMW still hasn't completely fixed over heating problems in the 335i. I rather take a slower 128i that doesn't over heat than a 135i that might over heat if I ever do decide to take it to the track.

Alpine White 135i w/ manual transmission
im hoping they offer a red interior same as the one in the 3 series. I wonder if bmw would include the CSL wheels from the m3 competition. I was going to buy an e46 m3 recently, but the 135i sounds like it will be an awesome deal w/ much more performance potential. They better have european delivery

From what I can tell, the 135i comes with a Sport package plus an M Sport package at no extra cost. Nav, leather, and a few other options will most likely be extra. If you ask me, a heavily optioned 128i might creep up to the base price of a 135i in a real hurry. Correct me if I'm wrong cause I could be missing something here

Black Sapphire or Sedona/Crimson Red
Some simple interior, most likely red
Sports package

Winter tires, without metal studs

I really have to see the car IRL before I can decide the color and interior.

Montego Blue/The red on the main pics/Alpine White - haven't fully decided yet either, would be 4th white car though, getting tired of white
I'd get the 2 tone if they offered, if not then Boston or Terra Brown leather or leatherette if price is higher than anticipated.
Premium package
M-sport if not standard
Actually wouldnt mind paddle shifter, but would take anything
PROcede or XEDE depending on how i feel about the drive
or a slightly used g35 if they price the 135 out of the ballpark

So, are you currently driving a 335 and if so how do you like it? Why are you changing to the 135?

Depending on what they make available:

135 M Sport
Alpine White/Red, Tahitian Green/Terra or Montego Blue/Beige
Manual or DSG if it’s available by the time I buy
Boston Leather
Comfort Access
Cold Weather

Hoping manual seats an no sunroof, so much faster getting kids in the back with manual seats in a coupe.

It already comes with HIDs right?

Who said I am switching.

Actually I LOVE my 335i, i will be giving it to my wife actually, thats why i havent done all my usual mods, just a few small things. She has a Range Rover right now, and she doesnt like it, she wants a smaller car, but something nice. She doesnt like the 5 or the 7, so i told her i would just give her my 3.

I still have a few other cars hidden around...., but to answer your question, yes i love it, and i wont be selling it anytime soon.

But once i get my 1er, i will be putting ALOT OF MODS, wheels, tires, power mods, interior, exterior, etc. It will be my daily driving fun car. And i will keep my prancing horse for my extra fun track days

Nice, sounds like you will end up with the best of both with a 135 and 335...
