Exclamation BMW Conspiracy

After browsing on E90post.com I found an interesting article someone posted 2 days ago. A man weighed his 335i coupe and came up with a very bizzarre number. Caranddriver came up with the same. I for one have always believe the devil is in the details. I dont believe there is a 335i out there with 300hp either. Could BMW be overstating there weight of certain vehicles to throw competitors off? I for one cannot weight to put my 135i on a scale. Maybe 2-3 for further verification.

Do me a BIG favor before you post a response. READ THE FULL 3 PAGES of the link and give me a response.

The real problem is that BMW does not define what they are weighing. If they are adding fuel, driver, etc. then their stated claim would be inline with what this wet weight data is showing. The conspiracy is a bit farfetched, in my opinion. Manufacturers take test vehicles from other companies all the time and I am sure that they weigh the vehicles themselves.

However, it at least goes to show that all this talk about the 135 being too heavy is a bit premature until the complete details of the conditions are made known.

Here's something to remember about the 300 hp - BMW uses electric steering and an electric water pump - so no belt drive and subsequent HP drains.
