Size matters

I'd like to learn more about the projected size of the 135i coupe. Before I got the MINI, I was driving an E36 M3. Loved it. The MINI is much smaller. I love it even more. So, my question is: Will the 135i coupe be half-way between them in size? I'm (selfishly) using these terms to help make the size more meaningful, but any info you can provide would be appreciated.

I think the 1 has about 1.5 inch shorter wheelbase than your old E36. So I think you can expect it to be a bit smaller overall. However, all signs indicate that the 1 drives a lot like a modern 3 series and lacks the rawness of the older ones.

Your Mini length is aprox. 3.70 mts. if I am not mistaken.

The 1-series hatchback is 4.23 mts. long and it's not known by its interior capability. The 1-series coupe by its shape should be somewhat longer, not to
make it too poor. (I would like to know how much anyway)

Also, I found that e36 length is 4.47 mts. (176.0 inches), so you can guess which car would be the 1-coupe be nearer of in terms of length.

I'm not sure how much longer the coupe will be than the hatch, but I'm guessing it will be about 24 inches longer than the MINI and about 6 inches shorter than the E36 M3.

And while that's not as small as I might like, it's much smaller than the 335i. No slam on the 335, but for some of us, smaller is better.

I would also prefer the 1-series coupe as small as possible, but your guessing leaves only 3 inches for the coupe longer than the hatch. Could it be possible?
Perhaps some of our friends could tell us.

maybe it won't be longer at all. there are such examples; the chevy aveo hatch and sedan are the same length.

Yes, but what legroom would we be talking about?. Keeping the hatch's legroom, which wouldn't be any marvel, could mean a car quite a few inches longer.

Legroom? That's not a high priority for me. If it were, I'd be looking at the 335i instead. Nope, I'm hopeful for small, light & nimble... sort of like my MINI but with big power and RWD.

Yes but don't expect to have something near the Mini in a Bmw coupe when they are already offering you the hatchback and already 52 cm. (20 in.) longer than the Mini.

If BMW keeps the hatch wheelbase for the rest of the 1-series projects (coupe, cabrio and sedan), it's clear than the coupe will be noticeable longer. (I suppose about 12-15 cm. 5-6 inches. I would feel very lucky if it was finally not longer than the old E30 3-series. 4.325 mts.-170.2 in)

Keeping also its rear space I don't dare to dream of it.

Now there's a worthy goal!
