Bought with two different tyre sizes

Hello,

First time poster here.

Not sure if this has been covered before but I have just bought in the UK a 520d 2020.

it's a great car but the only thing i have to ask is that on the front it currently has 245/40r18 and 275/40r18 on the back.

is there an an advantage/disadvantage to this? usually all of my cars have had all the same on all four wheels.

What BMW wheel style do you have? If you have a staggered set of wheels (rear is wider than front)…then you will also have a staggered set of tires.

If you look at the tire inflation chart in your owners manual…it should list all of the wheel/tire sizes along with the inflation information.

Or if you don’t know what staggered wheels are…simply google the subject…it’s not that uncommon with sports/performance vehicles.

Yea, totally normal on these cars.

The advantage is the larger surface on the rear for getting the engine power down onto the road and improving grip and acceleration whilst keeping the front end nimble. Also looks a bit nicer.

Downside is that you can't rotate your tyres...

Yes, different widths are normal, but then the side profile has to be different too. Are you sure you’ve got 245/40/18 in the front, because they should be 245/45/18.

yes, should be 245/45/18 in the front for M Sport pack, I have the same. It is a pain to find in UK all season tyres for the rear 275/40/18.
