There’s more than a few sellers on here right now asking $30k for a modified 335is with china turbos that’s been left out in the sun and probably smells like fucking crayons. Stop the bullshit.

Current market price for a CLEAN 335is is $20k max, stop fooling yourselves into thinking they’re worth anything close to M4 money.

EDIT June 25: in 2019 a clean loaded e92 2011 335is went for $17k at 68k miles. Today, June 25 2023 a clean, every package e92 335is with 51k miles is being purchased by me for $24k. I acknowledge I got a great deal back in 2019. Post covid used car prices across the board are still leveling out but for e92 335is’s a pristine car with no mods or extremely well done mods such as mono piston brake upgrades or top shelf turbos is most definitely worth $20k-$25k if under 100k miles. 100k-150k miles is still $20k because engines and transmissions are cheap. Sun baked interiors are extremely detrimental to perceived value so therefore garaged cars will maintain high value.


The 3 things that matter most: miles, carfax (title, accidents, maintenance), and condition. Have all 3? $25k. Missing 1? $20k. Missing all 3 like that lying asshole with the 115k mile Space Gray car in Myrtle Beach for $15.5k? Scrapyard.

I love this post! seriously I have been wondering the same thing for quite a while now. $20K is too much, even $17K. I don't care how well they're maintained, they're 12 year old cars at this point.

But if I was spending $17K for a 12 year old E9x I'd rather a 335is over a non-sport-package E91 328xi. I get it, manual wagons are cool and all, but not for that money. However there seems to be a market that disagrees with me.

Shit I’d buy a 70k mile clean 335is coupe for $20k but that’s the maximum. Anyone looking has probably noticed there are TONS of e93 335is out there, clean, under 100k miles, for $15k all day. Occasionally I’ll spot a clean e92 out there for $20k and reasonable mileage.

I made a post on the M4 forum as well because I’m looking for one and they have the same problem. In 2020 a 2015 M4 with 40k miles was selling for $35k. Today, that same exact car is supposedly fetching $45k. I suppose it’s the market adjustment but hot damn. Both M4’s and E92 335is’ are up $10k on pre-covid even though the cars are all now 3 year older. Wild. I’m saving my cash for this winter, I think prices will come down.

In 2021 my neighbor was selling his E92 335is, immaculate condition, all the bolt ons plus upgraded (Pure?) turbos, driven like it's supposed to be but not abused and he maintained it well. He said I could have it for $15K otherwise he was going to put it up for sale and fetch the inflated market prices, which he did. I think he got $21K for it. I passed because I wanted the 6MT and not the DCT, silly me.

E9X M3s are still commanding good prices. I saw an E93 sell locally, $28K asking price and it was gone in 2 days, it was clean but always parked outside and probably smelled like crayons.

That’s one of the main things happening to the aging e92’s. Even if it looks clean, the crayon smell is forever.

There’s a 335is for sale in myrtle beach with 115k miles. Pictures look good but the car belongs in a scrapyard.

I actually flew out with a 1 way ticket and arrived at the location. It was a damn disaster. Terrible alignment, every dash light on, transmission warning, literally everything in the interior was broken or worn, had terrible crayon smell, mold and standing water under the rear seat. I am not kidding about the interior. It was so bad that I figured someone put a chimpanzee in the car and let it go wild. Even comfort access didn’t work.

I made it a few miles down the road, took it back, left it in their driveway, put the key in the mailbox, and literally walked away down the road.

Prices across the board have gone nuts. I’m currently in the market for a 335i as a donor for my e91 build. Anything that’s not wrecked or totally ratted out is $10k+. I have yet to find a car with a manual trans worth buying for less than $13k.

There’s “decent” deals around if you search through the haystack. Called a dealer with a clean 70k mile 335is and they said they picked it up at $25k lol. Potentially going to pick it up tomorrow for $21k.

4 years ago I picked up a spotless 2011 335is for $17k at 68k miles. That will never ever happen again. $4k is nothing. Better than the $10k premium that M4’s are suffering from right now.

So I listed my 2011 335is and looks like 20K at 80K miles good shape etc. is completely acceptable. 23K is a stretch.

Interesting thread... I would like to ask, for those that have seen it (presumably all of you in this thread), what are the HONEST thoughts on my E91 '335is' that I have listed here in this group. Initial asking was $30K (I'm into the car for a fair amount above that), but I also know that is a top dollar ask.

I just lowered the price. However, I'd like some real feedback on the price. I think its fair to say that you cannot build the car for the asking price right now, especially considering the work that has gone into it.

Also, the car has Akrapovic catless downpipes... I was offered $3K for them if I'd remove them, but I declined not wanting to do the work. Are they THAT sought after or should I have taken the money??

Your car is a special car. It’s not really a 335is unfortunately but it is possibly one of a kind. You must consider its VIN will forever be a 328i and the chassis had ~120k miles before the conversion and then 20k more after that, with the concerted drivetrain ending at 90k miles. A 90k mile e92 335is is worth $20k, a 90k e93 is going for $15k.

Regarding the downpipes, l am not certain. Perhaps you would consider swapping them with another pair and selling them for a hefty profit. You could lower the price of the car and get your proposed value yet.

Your car is worth $25k to the right person because it is unique.

Great reply man, appreciate it. Yes, let me first say, I do know it is not a TRUE 335is, but its pretty damn close... Hell, when you plug into it, ISTA says its an E92 335is. But I completely understand and agree. Then again, the car is a one of a kind like you said. There have been other 335is build E91s out there, but I've searched them all and I do believe (as unbiased as I can be) that mine is the most complete and cleanest one out there.

As for the downpipes, yeah for sure, I'll likely do that. I can put a brand new set of VRSF pipes on there and I don't think it would change value any.

Glad to hear you've found your unicorn, they really are awesome cars. I absolutely love this one, even if she's a bit of an imposter.

I’m probably not the best person to weigh in on this but… I just bought an e91 to do an N54 swap on. If yours had come up for sale before I’d bought mine, I’d have given it serious consideration….

That being said, I’m starting the research and am starting to grasp the costs involved in doing such a swap. Given that, I think your price is more
Than fair. You couldn’t do the swap for anything close to what you gave yours listed for. Having said that, the market for wagons is not large. The market for engine swapped wagons is even smaller. I think yours is unique and worth it… but there aren’t many folks like us!
