Body kits

People,

I'm in the market for an after market body kit, but unfortunately scratching my head with regards to where to go. Anyone have any good suggestions?

Do you have any preference yet? Typically there are M-tech, ACS, Hamann, Hartge, Breyton, etc which are more popular and more available in HK.

You may want a whole kit from the same brand or like some of our members here who pick a "cocktail" approach

Perhaps you can join us in some meets to see our cars in person to get some more ideas.

Well have been looking around..... current preference lies with ACS & Rieger but haven't seen the Breyton one yet.

Was wondering order online or is there somewhere reliable to go order in person. Then could hopefully pick and mix.

Would be great to meet... let me know the venue and time.

Easier for ACS as you can just goto BMWHK parts dept for the kit (then you can opt to have installation by them or outside). This can ensure 100% fit and quality assurance (well, if any problem, can "fxxk" them up.... )

Other kits, my recommendation is to find a workshop then ask them to order it for you and doing the paint+installation too.

So just a simple case of walking into any workshop and asking what stock they have?? or do different places order different kits??

I gather the ACS kits are the easiest to order as they're popular.... just wondering the best way to find the slightly less popular ones.

from my experience, u need to order and wait for most of them
some shops do have stock ACS kits/Mtech kits, but the price is usually more expensive (though they may charge u less on installation)
u don't need to wait long if u order from bmw (around 2-3 weeks) and of course installing by them is better if budget is not a big concern

u need to shop around for different kits. if you are going after some "non-popular" kits here, most likely you will need to do it online though some shops can order them for you (with a premium).

I think what you most want to worry about is the paint.
Matching your aprons/skirts to the same body color of your other part of the car is a challenge. I have heard many complaint from car owner on paint body shops that they are unable to match, mix match colors. Especially if your car is not brand new (few months old)
I bought mine (M Tech) from BMWHK; they are more expensive than what was available online, but I admit, they paint job they did is great. nothing to complain about...

I will agree with that as long as yours is an AW which is light color. We know AW is not easy to maintain against time. So you may prefer a more professional paint matcher for a premium.

ACS kits are at the bottom of my list. Better to go for the m-tech or hamann. otherwise just do the mix-n-match approach - there are plenty of other brands out there. have a look in the picture section of this forum as there are lots of examples.

For AW e92/e93, the OEM M-Technik Kit would be the most ideal.
