MY JB3 Review

So I finally pulled the trigger this past Wednesday and ordered the JB3 pin-out version. Shipping was pretty fast as it came the next day.

Install: Pretty straightforward and easy to do. I was kind of hesitant at first... but with the Youtube install video and the detailed install guide, it was a piece of cake. Took little over an hour to complete the install - that was with double checking everything and taking my time. Highly recommend getting the pin out version if you don't mind spending a little more time on install and want to save $$$...especially in this economy

Performance
: After I installed it, I drove it around just to make sure everything was working properly. Then I loaded up MAP 4 which is the High Boost Map with Lagfix. The car definitely felt "on its toes" and the throttle response improved. The power just keeps on pulling till redline, makes you feel like . At first I didn't feel that much power increase, but the more I drove it and gave it time to adapt, it just kept on pulling stronger and quicker. I definitely like this map

Overall the JB3 is a great performance upgrade for the n54 engines. Also I really like the ability to switch around 7 maps, especially from inside the cabin. I haven't tested out the other maps yet, but I plan to as soon as I order more parts for my car. Will post up some dyno # as soon as I get time off to do so!

Thanks: **********s & BurgerTuning

I am always driving in map 4 as well. Perfect for everyday driving IMO. Congrats on your new found power.

In warmer weather, and on 91 octane, I think map 4 might be the way to go.

insert key, push down pedal all the way for 4 seconds , this put the JB3 in listening mode, than press down and release for each map one time. so map 4 press and release 4 times.

Exactly correct! It really makes everything a lot easier especially when you want to add 100 octane and performance parts.

Well first of all I can say they are totally different cars. My evo was just raw power and it had really good handling. Driveability of my Evo was sacrificed because of the aggressive tuning and performance parts. Also I had a racing clutch in there, so it was a @&**#$ in traffic. But overall it was such a fun car.

The 335i is much more comfortable for daily driving and it has the power when you need it. The power with the jb3 didn't throw me back in my seat like my evo did, but rather it was very strong linear pull like a your going into warp speed in space The handling is obviously not as good as the evo, but it's not bad at all.

Overall I can say I like the 335i better now because I can enjoy driving anywhere without having to worry about cops or my intercooler hoses popping off on my evo. I can drive with my a/c on and still get up to 100mph quick too. 335i is just enjoyable to drive

Can you change between maps when the engine is on?

not with the gas pedal switching since the ECU must be in listening mode. With an integrated boost gauge (like the one Terry is releasing soon or Rixster) you can.
