Jerky gearshifts when cold

Hi, I have a 2019 x3 m40i with 63.000km on it, I bought it used so i've only had it for around 2 months. The gearbox feels jerky and dont shift very smooth when its cold, is that a known issue and is there any fixes?
The driving mode doesn't matter, it's the same no matter which one.
When its up to temp, it drives just fine and no issues with the shifts.

Different engine here (30d with 33k miles on it) but I believe the same ZF 8 speed as you.

My gearbox is not that smooth when cold and hangs on to 2nd or 3rd gear when accelerating gently. It's not jerky (as such), but you definitely feel it's cold. Give it a few miles to warm up and it's fine. Put the car in Sports+ and Sport gearbox and it is a bit jerky, but not in a bad way

I have a friend that has owned X5, 5 series, 7 series all with the B57 engine and ZF 8 speed and he swears by the gearbox.

I'm sure other M40i owners will report similar, but obviously get it checked out by BMW or specialist if you're worried.

J.

Has the oil been changed recently? If not, it's worth a shot since it's almost due anyways - according to my book

60 kkm is the right time to change the oil, as these forums agree (even though it's branded as "for-life"). Follow the instructions, buy appropriate oil.

As a precaution, I feather the throttle until the car is warm. I don't use sport/sport+ modes until the oil is warm. It does feel heavy not jerky on my foot until it is warm. I just attribute it to cold oil viscosity. Get it checked by a dealer, they should allow it cooldown overnight and test it in the morning. I have got m40i.

One should "feather" even for the sake of the engine...especially with diesel/higher power output.

Thank you for the replies.

I dont think the oil has ever been changed in the gearbox, only the engine. So I think it might help, im even thinking about getting it "flushed" and refilled.

The "emergency call not available" message pop'd up this morning too, so its all going great so far.
