wheel colour opinion

What do you guys think about shadow chrome for 400m wheels, I'm in two minds but the spare set I use are in black and not fun of it when fitted to car, looked much better when of a car then when on.

Platinum Silver IMO - will stand out superbly against the colour of the car then...

I think anything like ferric grey or shadow chrome would be a bit too dark; but that's my personal preference/opinion

The Style 351Ms I had on my previous 730D were platinum silver and it's a superb colour; really pops:

Shadow chrome is OK. Personally for a road car I'd never go with black wheels. Can't see the point because with black paint you lose all the detail unless you're standing next to the car - from a distance they just look nondescript.

That said, it's always a personal choice

I was always in this camp Hated the gloss back 403Ms my F31 came with; got rid of them the weekend I collected the car and fitted 18" 400Ms with winter tyres

But I couldn't stop looking at the 18" satin black 405Ms that were being sold on here and now I've got them on the touring; I really like them...

Satin black IMO is a much better colour and nicer finish than gloss and diamond cut...

However, I can see that in the future; I may look to get them refurbed in Ferric Grey II

RobUK I realised this once fitted the wheels, once you get up close looks fine but like you said from further away just no, also impossible to keep clean

Gloss black wheels are a nightmare to keep clean; satin not so much, more so if you ceramic coat them

Shadow chrome suits Estoril blue, but darkening a wheel makes it look smaller than it is.

Darker wheels hide brake dust better though!

I have a winter set of 400M's that I need refurbing, so have been looking at colours too (on a black car).

I don't think I will consider black, as I don't like that look, but may go with something like this, gun metal grey. (First photo)

Shadow chrome is a bit lighter and look good, so may consider that colour too. (Second photo)

I think yours look good on your blue car.

I think light version of shadow chrome looks OK, currently have black and like I said I have close my eyes as I approach the car, just looks wrong, they looked much better of a car then on, silver I just don't think works on estroil blue, if it was silver/black or grey car then yes or maybe if it didn't have them black bits on car silver wheels would work, hmm decision decision, also eyeing up Apex vs-5rs wheels, price for 18" is a bit eye watering, I miss the look of car on 20" but ride is so much better on 18s
