Codes and Battery
I have a 2017 3-series diesel wagon with 62K miles. All of a sudden it's started throwing codes up when:
- starting car after sitting for a while (overnight) - yesterday on a 3 hour highway trip, on 3 occasions Messages were: - Chassis stabilization: Drive moderately - Collision warning system malfunction - and one other I can't remember Every time this has happened everything cleared within a few seconds, however now the check engine light is on. Nothing feels wrong with the car. My assumption is that the battery is starting to fade. This is based on other forum posts, the fact that it happens when the car sits overnight, and the change in the weather (it's spring in Georgia). Unfortunately my mechanic is slammed and gave me a date of April 11 to look at the car. My questions: - I assume there is no problem keeping on driving? - I need to drive to Charlotte this weekend, and again I assume there is no problem doing that? - I haven't looked at the battery but it's the original and I'm assuming there's no way to add distilled water to eke a bit more life out of it? Thanks - Timo |

Don't assume. Read codes with a tool capable of reading BMW codes in all the modules of the car.
It could be anything.
