M shift knob Illuminated?

Does the M shift knob illuminate the current gear or is the entire H pattern illuminated?

Traditionally the M shift knob is lighted ... it's not a ricer knob. But it's just an led under the pattern, turns on with the interior lighting ... nothing fancy like illuminating the current gear.

I know there was a DIY for the e46 on which wire to tap for power for the led, but I haven't seen anybody come up with one for the e90 yet.

I stand corrected, sorry my bad . Thought maybe he was talking about those 'flashing LED's" that I've seen people put in their cars

The M models E46 M3 and SMG II and SMG III equipped cars have illuminated shift patterns.

I looked into illuminating the stock knob back in the fall, and it is just not possible. The Msport knob is that much more impossible to illuminate.

I guess I will just wait for the E90 M3 to come out, and then snag what would hopefully be the illuminated knob from that...
