Big Argument for all of us 335i & 330i OWNERS! PLEASE LOOK/EXPLAIN!!!

Ok I was just looking on the BMW website for North America, and it says that the 335i can do Acceleration: 0-60 mph – Manual transmission in 5.4 sec
Now the Automatic gets this: Acceleration 0-60 mph – Automatic transmission 5.6 sec So explain this I SWEAR!!!! That I remember reading that the 330i could do 0-60 mph in just 5.6 secs!!! EXPLAIN THIS PLEASE!! Give me your thoughts on this I think it was out of the magazine car and driver, but I could be wrong, so put your input guys is this right or no? (and yes we all know that driving conditions come into this as well so lets assume that when they test these cars they HAVE THE BEST CONDITIONS AVAILABLE!)

So input pleez

You must be new.

Upon testing through various magazines and websites it was discovered that the 335i can do 0-60 times in the 4.8-5.0 seconds area. I'm guessing this was done by brake torquing. The 330i probably does do 5.6 (don't know for sure since I didn't research it much).

BMW probably posts the 335i at 5.6 seconds to try and make the M3 look better.

What is odd is that in 2007 the stated 5.3 for the coupe and 5.5 for the vert and claimed the auto and stick where both the same, wonder why they changed the numbers?

All performance figures have to be compared with the same sources as there are many variables involved. So if you are using C&D for the 330 you have to use C&D for the 335. The obtained 4.8 for the 335 and 5.6 for the 330

You really have no idea what a 335 will do to the 330.
Having 45 more horsepower than the 330 is definitely an understatement.
Seams more like 145 to tell you the truth.

As for being a noob I guess you could say that? I know alot about BMW's more on the
E46 Chassis though... just wanted a newer car.... Anyways so from what I've understood from you guys the 335i does 0-60 in like 4.6 sec and the 330i can do 0-60 in the 5.6 sec? I'm not trying to say "oooh ya look at my lil 330i go just as fast as a 335i" look I'm no dummy I know that the 335i has quite an impressive nicer kick to it to any regular 3 series, just want to know what my lil car can do

it's pretty evident that you don't really care to use the function on E90post. It's a great tool, use it sometimes.

Instead of looking at 0-60 times, go look at the 1/4 times.

The 330i would get destroyed. But I am not saying its not an already fast car its just the 335i is that much faster.

even 0-60 times clearly give the advantage to 335i. OP was comparing C&D of the 330i to the official BMW time of the 335i; a classic case of selective reading. If he had compared the official BMW time for both cars, 335i wins. If he had compared the C&D time for both cars, 335i wins.

FYI no stock 335 will actually do 4.6 sec, don't get your hopes too high.
However, it definitely beats the competition in that area...

I don't see how this is a Big Argument for 335i or 330i owners, very misleading thread title. If you would've titled this thread correctly, I don't think anyone would've bothered reading because this topic has been beaten to death. If you're up late and too lazy to use search, then you shouldn't create an absolutely redundant thread either.
