Who uses the driver's cup holder? For what?
Who uses the driver's side retractable cup holder?
For what?.... ...can of soda? potted plant? cup of joe? I'm wondering how useful this very well-engineered cup holder really is for us. |

Use it daily for my iced coffee I make before leaving the house. Beware its use, though. Passengers' knees invariably knock the contents out and it spills all over your shifter, ashtray, and down both sides of the center console. It's happened to me! No fun! It's a mess and takes forever to clean if you clean good. I think the concept is neat but annoying at the same time 'cuz I'm always thinking about the clumsy passenger and their left knee. When it's just me it's major cool and get used. Wonder if these things wear out, though?

Surprisingly functional and sturdy considering its design. Like the Audi cupholders of a few years ago, trying to find space where there is very little. However, unlike the Audi cupholder, it's not directly above the radio, which sucked for spills (imagine Coke getting all over your controls). Being off to the side is a little safer in case of spillls. Dont really have too much prob with spills though as long as there is a lid. I use for everything from Starbucks to 32-oz fountain drinks (which these days have the contoured lower-half to fit the holder).

Be careful with the passenger cup holder. It's located directly above the window switch.

I can't shift gears and drink a cappuccino at the same time. I don't have enough hands.

I usually carry a large water bottle with me in the car (1 liter) so the cup holders are rarely in use. Only when I go pick up fast food or starbucks with the GF do I use the cupholders and even then, the girlfriend holds onto them just in case.

I use it all the time. Jack in the Box cups fit nicely in the cupholder.

I put my Crystal Geyser water bottles there usually until I'm done hearing the rattle from the bottle cap
My rants with the cup holders 1) If you put a drink there and it doesn't have a lid, more than likely when you turn, you will spill some of it all over your console where your shifter is (unless you're turning the other direction) because the center of gravity is wrong 2) Passenger knees will most likely hit it 3) Larger drinks will not fit and the holder ring isn't adjustable to account for those larger drinks |

Actually, for a European car it is really good. Much better than the Mercedes cup holders I have used in the past. I put everything from cans of soda to cups from McDonalds. If the fast food cup has the smaller base than the rest of the cup it fits no problem. If you get the bigger cups from Hardee's for example, it won't fit.
The cup holder in the center console in my Dad's Chrysler Crossfire (Mercedes SLK) is absolutely useless and hard as hell to even get a cup into if it isnt a hard sided cup.

Cup Holder/Nav holder
I put drinks there. I also use it as a holder for a Garmin Zumo, as I did not get a Nav System. I stick the Zumo holder w/suction cup to short container (hair gel) with a smooth top and place it in the holder. It puts the Zumo at a nice height and out of my way. (Just noticed the prior post) same idea.
