Propulsive Driving Music
Sometimes I like to drive around with no music on, just enjoying the car, and my own aimless 'thought' processes..... But lets face it, most of us like to put some tunes on, and the drive and the music comliment each other so well.
And while there's definitely pleasure to be had in sticking on, say, Miles Davis's 'In a Silent Way' and floating around in a mellow mood, my preference when it comes to driving soundtracks leans heavily towards propulsive music of one sort of another. So, suggestions and recommendation please, for Propulsive Driving Music. Can be anything from 'Ride of the Valkyries' to the theme from 'Rhubarb & Custard'. Let me start by offering 2 recommendations of my own, one old, one new-ish: - 'Live and Dangerous' by Thin Lizzy This old favourite was teh disc I took with me on my first proper 'out to see what the car could do' ride in my 320d - 'Stay Positive' by The Hold Steady Best straight-ahead rock album of 2008, no contest. Saw this lot last year in Manchester, what a night. Ok, over to you...... |

Slipknot: anything off Volume 3 (its an acquired taste) Prodigy: Music for the jilted generation Quite like the latest foo fighters album at the moment For a bit of old fashioned rocky blues, Gary Moore |

For 'propulsive driving music' it's usually rock that I would choose, but not exclusively.
Pretty much anything by AC/DC, particularly the new album at the moment. Airbourne - Running Wild Motorhead -Ace of Spades, Motorizer Metallica, Death Magnetic Muse -loads Linkin Park System of a Down Iron Maiden Deep Purple UFO Black Stone Cherry The Killers livelier tracks Selected Kings of Leon, but particulalry Molly's Chambers. The Verve - Love is Noise The Stereophonics rockier tracks, (but love everything by the band) Foo Fighters And being totally self absorbed, I like to play stuff that Ive written or that bands that I've played in have recorded. Call me egotistical and I'll agree.
