I'm also in the SF bay area and deciding what to tint my '23 45e. Note that the rears are tinted from factory. But, I'm still planning to tint it with ceramic for UV/better heat protection. So, I'm thinking of tinting it with lighter shade than front to make them match.

5% in the rear with 20% in the front. Although the 20% in the front is even lower due to factory tint so I can't say for sure where its at but it looks good

In our area, the % mean the transmission. So 70% is letting 70% of light through. It is very light tint, almost unnoticeable.

I did 70% on the factory tinted windows to get better UV and heat rejection, 15% on the front windows, 70% on the windshield and 50% on the sunroof. The 15% matches the rears pretty well.

Thanks for the answer, in the UK the law is the front windscreen must let at least 75% of light through and the front side windows must let at least 70% of light through. If the tints are to dark and you get stopped by the police your car will be impounded.

OP: I did 30% on sides and 70% on all the remaining glass. Primarily for extra UV block and mainly for infrared rejection. 30% doesn’t match with factory rear of about 20%, which went down to roughly 14% with additional film of VLT 70. Patrikr ‘s 15% on fronts is a great match therefore with the rears on 70. However, personally I did not go to 20 or less this time around as I had difficulty with seeing out the sides at night in our dark country roads. VLT30 was just right for me. Doing it again I would have gone with 50 on the pano roof to better cut on the sunlight. It was a guess on my part that 70 on the pano would minimize the reduction of the LEDs in the pano glass.

I went with Expel ceramic on the pano because their website promoted it for panos at the time. |
