What tints did you go with?

Trying to decide what tint % to apply.

Currently decided on 70% windshield and 30% driver passenger.

Pictures will be a plus!

I'm also in the SF bay area and deciding what to tint my '23 45e. Note that the rears are tinted from factory. But, I'm still planning to tint it with ceramic for UV/better heat protection. So, I'm thinking of tinting it with lighter shade than front to make them match.

I kept mine 70% all around, nothing on the front windshield. If I move forward with the front windshield, it would be 70% as well.

5% in the rear with 20% in the front. Although the 20% in the front is even lower due to factory tint so I can't say for sure where its at but it looks good

Does a 70% tint mean that the glass only let's in 30% light or doesn't it work like that?

In our area, the % mean the transmission. So 70% is letting 70% of light through. It is very light tint, almost unnoticeable.

so 20% on 1st row windows is darker than factory shade in 2nd row window? I wonder if I want to have a match, what percentage I should do for 1st row windows?

I did 70% on the factory tinted windows to get better UV and heat rejection, 15% on the front windows, 70% on the windshield and 50% on the sunroof. The 15% matches the rears pretty well.

Thanks for the answer, in the UK the law is the front windscreen must let at least 75% of light through and the front side windows must let at least 70% of light through. If the tints are to dark and you get stopped by the police your car will be impounded.

Don’t be mistaken, malvern_man. A good many people who tint here in the states tint illegally. They are ok risking the ticket. Our system is quite umm… different. Illegal tint is basically a fine. Many who get the “fix it” ticket know someone who will sign off that they “fixed” the illegal tint. Impounding for a tint violation isn’t what happens here.

I matched the privacy glass on the rear passenger and rear windshield which the shop claimed was about 20% from the factory

OP: I did 30% on sides and 70% on all the remaining glass. Primarily for extra UV block and mainly for infrared rejection. 30% doesn’t match with factory rear of about 20%, which went down to roughly 14% with additional film of VLT 70. Patrikr ‘s 15% on fronts is a great match therefore with the rears on 70. However, personally I did not go to 20 or less this time around as I had difficulty with seeing out the sides at night in our dark country roads. VLT30 was just right for me. Doing it again I would have gone with 50 on the pano roof to better cut on the sunlight. It was a guess on my part that 70 on the pano would minimize the reduction of the LEDs in the pano glass.

I don't understand exactly what you're saying here. Did the 70 affect the LED reflection? I've seen other threads on tint on the Pano roof, but not sure I will do it. However, I certainly want to do it on my new one, living here in LV.

thread here talks about heat build too on the tinted pano:

Yeah, the 15% matches really well but I agree, it’s slightly too dark at night… I’ve always done 35% on my previous cars and it’s great but wanted to try something darker this time. Jury’s still out what I’ll do on the next one

Sorry for the rushed texting here. What I meant is the following. I have the sky lounge option with the myriad of light reflectors inside the glass and we kind of like the novelty. Was concerned a tint would dim the lighting effect from the pano too much so opted for the lightest tint which was VLT 70 and indeed it seems to have impacted the visual enjoyment minimally. However, although the IR rejection of 92% does the job well on a sunny day, passengers complain the sun ball is still too bright. So we still close the shade.

I went with Expel ceramic on the pano because their website promoted it for panos at the time.

Yes it was definitely darker then factory 2nd row tint. I think 30% should match. I see that you're in the Bay Area, I went to Mr. Tint if you need a recommendation
