MyBMW app is not syncing
Since yesterday, I noticed that MyBMW app is not showing updated mileage numbers for my car or other status like if doors are locked/unlocked.
Sending any command to the car like lock, unlock, precondition, etc are also timing out. I tried to do some debugging based on what I've found in the forum: 1. Reboot iDrive several times (start with engine on/off, hold down the volume button for up to 70secs). 2. Go to Apps > Installed Apps > Options > Update. This takes several minutes and eventually says something along the lines of 'update failed please try again later'. 3. Logged out & back in to the MyBMW app. Both my iPhone's OS and the MyBMW app is on the latest version. Are there any other things I can try? |

You can check the Privacy settings in iDrive. There are settings for what data can/not be shared with BMW and disabling some of them affects certain features. I would probably enable all first and then individually disable some features if you're concerned with privacy.

The only time this happened to me, rebooting the iDrive system resolved it. To do that, just push and hold the volume knob in the car and it will reboot the entire iDrive system.

I’m having the same issue too. I don’t think it’s the actual app on my iPhone. I’ve tried updating remote software upgrade in the car and no luck. I also tried the other route where you go to “installed apps” press “option” and select “update apps and services”. I’m out of ideas. Anyone else having this same issue? Any other ideas that can help me out?

Agree with the iDrive "telematics reset" or the long/70 second reset. Effectively, you hold the Volume button in continuously through 3 resets of the iDrive system.
Last time I had this problem, it took the telematics reset to finally get it working again.

Unfortunately I have tried 70s reset, and it did not solve the issue. I called BMW through SOS and they opened up a tix. I suggest others who are having the issue do the same.

I tried various combinations of the 70s reset and App update with/without bluetooth on. Finally got it to work with the following steps:
1. Unplug charger and close charger door. 2. Turn off bluetooth on the phone. 3. Start the engine and keep it running during the rest of the steps 4. Perform 70s reset by holding down the volume button for exactly 70 seconds 5. After 70s release the button and wait for iDrive to turn on. 6. Go to Apps and click on Option button. Once Update is available and not greyed out, update the apps. Unlike the previous times, App update took only few seconds and said succeeded. I immediately gained control in the MyBMW app. |
