what is the 9/10 after the gas price in gas stops?

if it's a dumb question save me your pity, and just asnwer please

it's nine thousandth of a dollar. it's an actual US currency and it's called a mil.

Tradition from the old days when gas was much less expensive. The modern version is the $9.99 price tag on a widget.

same concept of $9.99 instead of $10. So gas is $1.99 9/10 = $2.00

The whole 9/10th's thing is not just related to gas. It's a commodity-based thing. For example, when I go to buy some electronics components, a lot of times, the prices are like .00855 each for 5000, etc. One stinkin' resistor is often not even worth 1 cent.
