Bought a car

Something for the weekend sir? Ahem…

So I’ve been looking at Mk3 MX5s of late. With a view to have something “cheap” in the garage to mess around with, and for sunny days. Things took a little twist today, and I’m off to pick something else up tomorrow morning.

Seems like a tradition on here to look for suggestions - who’s playing?

I was going to say that was a very specific guess until I saw the OP tag.

Great choice.

One of the 'Great' engines...... imo cars like this are going only one way in the financial department and that is 'UP'.

Enjoy

Had 2 and regretted selling each time, it’s one of those cars that you really have to drive to enjoy, one of the best gear changes as well.

A couple of easy modifications can make it a touch more modern including the mod to lower the roof whilst moving.

Oh and the air box modification is a must either that or a CAI the noise is something else.

Look out for the secret compartment 👀

Very nice OP, look forward to hearing your thoughts and seeing some pictures!

I suppose there were never that many S2000's sold in the UK but some of the ones in the classifieds look to be at pretty strong money even allowing for today's secondhand prices - don't think depreciation is something you'll need to worry about!

Drove home but as it has a hardtop it was a coupe experience first! Frustrating - slow traffic on Essex backroads and my 86 year old Dad following. Anyway, couple of chances for “the revs” - it’s an experience!
Flows really nicely along windy B roads, suspension soaks up bumps pretty good, great vision. Steering is better than I’d expected if not exactly full of feedback.
I’d experienced the gearbox before - once warmed up its the best I’ve known - great fun.

Got home, roof off, and a couple of blasts with daughter then son. Brilliant!
But. Near home the “emissions” light came on 🙁 so pootled home.
It was my brother in law’s car so asked him - he’d recently had the cat stolen so replaced it and a new non OEM exhaust at the same time - maybe something to look at first. Anyway, the local garage beckons 🥺

Some jobs needed but I knew that.

Also need to read up on these “must mods” and I’ve yet to find the secret compartment!
