Yes i think this new ceramic bezel is naff,But i bought this very cheap early in the year ,My 14 year old has choosen it for his 18 birthday present so the way rolex is putting up prices i thought it made sense to buy it now 22.5% increase this year 10% in april and 12.5% in october .also had a heads up hat with the collapse of sterling it looks like feb/march another one is due .

I wear a Submariner Date bi-metal steel/gold. My wife paid £4250 this time last year, RRP is now £1000 more this year! Does that make it a good investment?

depends on what you want to do with it, swap it in for something else u may get your money or it will be 4k, i wouldnt look at list as most places you should get some money knocked off, my brother in law has brought his son the same watch new blue face for 4.5k

I have no intention of changing or selling, but it is good to know that money isn't going down the drain! I really appreciate the quality of my watch.

Rolex /omega /brietling .

Rolex first choice ,I have always had a thing about quality watches i think you could do far worse then buy a decent watch i was looking at some vintage rolex sports models at auction recently cost of explorer 2 with orange hand in 1973 was $386 ,i saw one recently go for $17k fair return for your initial investment .But what a fabulous watch to wear for 35 years as well .

I like the simplicity of the submariner date. Would a love stainless steel daytona to add to the 50th year anniversary submariner I have, though.

Nice watches!

I 'almost' bought my wife the new Omega De Ville friday, the assistant was willing to drop it from £2775 straight to £2350 for cash!

I can appreciate the watches as a piece of engineering and understand why they are desirable.

I just do not feel I could spend more than about £400 on a watch as they are not that important for myself. Which is a good thing as they look an expensive hobby.

they are expensive really when cheaper items are available that will do the job as good if not better. However if my mrs can spend 5k on a necklace then im having 10k in wathches, its only fair
