11A002, 481B03, (and more) and stalling at low fuel levels
I'm helping a friend diagnose an issue with his 2015 335i (completely stock) and I'm finding some conflicting info. His car has occasionally been stalling on him at low fuel levels but restarts just fine. Yesterday it did it several times before he got gas. One suggestion when I searched for the codes has been an incorrect fuel level sensor and that the car is actually running out of gas but since he filled up with just over 14 gallons he clearly wasn't running dry anyway.
Codes from yesterday: 11A002 - High-pressure fuel, plausibility: pressure too low 11A401 - High-pressure fuel injection upon release: too low pressure 481B03 - Fuel pump motor current too low 11B401 - High-pressure fuel at or after the release of injection (second environmental condition set by time delay) to low pressure 21A023 - Engine: false start or engine starting without a driver influence Stored codes from a few thousand miles ago: 193208 - Fuel level, plausibility deviation between consumption and level change 193A20 - Fuel level, collective error: signal and electrically Most of my searching and logic would suggest it's an LPFP issue with the bonus that this would replace the possibly sketchy level sensor as well. A few things I came across mentioned the EKP but that only was when used with an upgraded LPFP which he doesn't have. I just want to pick the brains of those more familiar with the N55 before I have him order an LPFP. |

i'd agree with your assessment it's the LPFP, especially if he often runs it that low. running it low could potentially starve the pump from cooling, so it might have had a few too many overheating cycles.
also, the LPFP had a recall, so call BMW with the VIN and see if you are affected. that means free fuel pump. (i had mine replaced 2014 m235i from the recall)
