Good vid that Carlos. The results were pretty much as I expected but only because of knowing about the cars superior ability under braking and change of direction. It takes some physical exertion to 'flick' a bike at speed through corners. The acceleration of the bike is something to experience though.

I know, how fast was that thing when it past the GT-R.

When i was growing up i always believed bikes were quicker round corners.

I honestly thought he'd drop it on those wet corners... looks like he was having serious fun though.

I thought he'd drop it as well tbh. Did it say what tyres the bike had fitted?

I think it's a testament to how improved car handling has become over the years, though that said, older supercars would still have superiority in breaking and handling in those conditions on a race track and Cadwell can be punishing physically for bikers.

What's unbelievable with a motorbike is the speed at which you can come up behind another vehicle, the 'ground' you can cover in such a short time and the reaction times required to ride the bike fast. Something I'm damm sure I've lost lol.

Do you think the Bike would claw back the 3 seconds it lagged behind had it been bone dry and rubbered up. (The track)

The only cars ive seen that will leave a bike from a rolling 60-70mph is a veyron. A carrera Gt will pull Away 140+

That M6 i posted up at top end, close to the magic 200mph pulled away from proper bikes.

Great vid Carlos.

The 1098S is almost as quick as my GSX-R! I've got 25bhp more than the Duke and more torque, so it's even more of a handful in the wet!

 not at Cadwell. Might be different at Donnington, though.

Just goes to show - 4WD vs RWD...

Amazing!

Its amazing how quickly the bike catches up on the straight!

If it was completely dry i don't think the gap would have been as big but that's just a guess!

maybe on a different track that suited the bike more i think it would have won.

i want one!

Also anyone else think that bike is beautiful?

The roads are awesome up there, aren't they! I often get up early on a summer Sunday and take a blat up there, as it's only just over an hour from Warwick! It's a cracking ride up to Louth or even Skeggy for breakfast!

Matt

p.s I was in Lincoln the other weekend for the Christmas Market. Never again! LOL

Errr, Ok then!

It's a K5 with Suzuka 8hr paint, Marchesini Wheels, Ohlins suspension, JSB Yoshi titanium and carbon exhaust system, PCIII, filters, Yoshi offset sump, and many other bits............

I love it!

VERY NICE Matt

Do you find the bike is quite sensitive to suspension settings?

The Ohlins gives comprehensive choices doesn't it! My old FZ750 could be adjusted on the spring (C spanner!) but not the damper lol (standard suspension) and it definately benefitted from a steering damper. And the weight of yours compared to the old Yam is amusing if you know what I mean - no wonder I used to be knackered after a long run!

I find the Ohlins has a great range of adjusment but it's marked up at my preferred setting and tends to stay there. I occasionally back it off if the road is very bumpy! I'd guestimate that the bike probably weighs 40-50kg less than your FZ, so it's certainly less tiring to ride. The Marhesinis help with turn in and reduce unsprung weight, so it's very flickable. I've done several hundred miles in a day with no probs.

Maybe we should sort out an E90Post bike meet!

Think an E90 post bike meet would be a good idea Matt. There seems to be a few on here have bikes, unfortunately it's been a good while since I owned the FZ and it became a choice between a bike and a car. I've often thought of getting another bike but finances dictated something else would take priority. Just have very fond memories now lol - but do remember it like yesterday and all the places a load of us went to and the camping trips.

Went to the Shetlands once (we wanted to see what it was like up there) and by the time we'd ridden from East Yorks. to Aberdeen my collar bone and surrounding muscles were ACHING. It wasn't a bike you could flick over using knee pressure, you had to 'pull it' over using your arms through bends. Sounded really good when 'on song' as well. By the time we hit Scotland, the engine was totally de-coked and it was running exceptionally well. I could get the back wheel twitching in 6th gear by ripping the throttle back.

Im not liking those chicken strips Matt on that back wheel - i will let you off if you tell me those pics were taken when you first got it and hadnt had a chance to scrub tyres in!!?? Otherwise youre a big gayer!!!! Nice looking K5 though - ive had every K series in the Gixer range - currently own a black K8 for the road and a K6 for the track. Awsome bikes and cant wait for the K9 - ive already ordered mine!!! Lincoln Xmas market is a nightmare - parking is a joke and full of old tat. Have you tried the Nurburgring on the bike yet??

Nice choice of bikes Steve. Which K9 are you getting? I thought the white one at the show was awful, but only because the extras were so poorly finished. I've not been to the Ring on the bike. I'd be tempted to do a tutored course there, when only bikes are on track. Having seen loads of bikers fall off there over the years on the tourist days, I'm inlined to want some metal and airbags round me if the worst happens.

The chicken strips aren't a usual feature, well not in the summer anyway. Having said that, they're about the same size at the moment as I went for a ride a couple of weeks ago and it was bloody slippy. Lovely!

I didnt think a Gixxer 1000 was quicker than that. He said 150 at the rear wheel, so isnt that like on a bike 170 at the fly?

Nice pics matey.

Carlos, i had the 1098 when it first came out and like all Dukes they are pretty slow but handle like a dream - the best V-twin in my opinion and ive had a few, like the Aprilia RSVR factory etc - but they are no match for a GSXR 1000 K5 and above on power. To give you an example my track/race bike is around 195 bhp and my road bike around 185 bhp.

I'm inadequate, my old 9R only has 140something.

Sorted cars will always be quicker around a track than bikes. Who cares, bikes are waay more fun.
