Car wobbles when brake pedal is released

When I come to a full stop, put it in park, then take my foot off the brake, the car "wobbles" back and forth...and quite noticeably. Anyone else notice this? I've never been in a car where it was this apparent...

Make sure you lug nuts are tight. Did you have anything done on the wheels as of late? Shouldn't be doing that.

guarantee that's the issue

if I remember I think the torque converter disconnects at idle on the E90, so when you don't use your parking brake the car may be just like leaving it in neutral (don't quote me on that) maybe try pushing your car after you park it and put it in park and see if it rolls

most normal automatics don't do that so lots of auto drivers don't use their parking brakes and are just fine.

i notice this sometime on my car too kungfujoe. i think it has to do with autobox we have and not applying ebrake immediately after park before foot off of brake.

kungfujoe,

If you are talking about what I think you are, then your car 'wobbles' back and forth only once or twice, then stops, right? If so, I would say that this could be considered 'normal'. My car did it when it was new. It irritated me to the point that I went to the dealership and drove another 3 for comparison. Sure enough, that test car did it too. I think they mostly do that when they're newer. I haven't noticed my car to do it in a while now, and I occasionally do try to pay attention for it at stop signs/lights. If I had to guess, you'll notice it start to lessen after a thousand or two miles. It's no biggie.

Try this and see if it goes away:

Come to a stop. Apply parking brake. Remove foot from service brake (that is the brake pedal). Put car in park. Any better? If so what you are experiencing is probably the park pawl.

I read this thread, because Iīve got the same "problem" with my E46-Coupé...but Iīll try it also once again by using the hand-break before put in P-position.
One thing I find also strange: For ex. if I start the engine (P-position)
and would like to drive, than I normal go from P to D - at this procedure the Gear-lever is going only with strong of pushing down in
D-position! But if I go back from D to R or P, itīs nevertheless given
this problem...is something damage in my automatic-gear!?

Come to a complete stop via the foot brake.
Apply handbrake
Put car into Park
Switch off engine

Always works perfectly for me

Sorry, Im not shure I understand

Are you saying in your E46 it is hard to move from P to D when you first start the engine, but it is then easy later ?

@E90Fleet: Yes, I absolutely mean this situation - itīs happening very often from P to D, but never the other way back.
But thereīs nothing given differences, when the engine stands over night or was driving a time before.

Dealer would have to check if it is just the shift knob, a connection or the gearbox.

Maybe something just needs a bit of oil because it sticks when cold

But what is causing this? It's pretty apparent and I don't recall noticing it on my wife's SUV, which is an auto.

Even if I apply the hand brake, when I release the foot brake, it still wobbles a little.

Have you checked your air pressure in your tires? Are your wheels lugnuts tight?
