Boston area 335xi purchase

Hi all,

Long time stalker in the Boston/Central Mass area and about to pull the trigger on a 335xi.

Just visited my first dealer, Wagner in Shrewsbury which would be convienient is service needed, etc. They seem to have a fairly good rep on the board here.

I quoted that deals could be had under $1000 over invoice and got the immediate, "Sorry, we don't need to do that. These cars are rare and sell themselves out quickly" She looked into her quota book and said she has two 'spots' left for ordering the car I want. She said maybe 1500 over invoice and I shook her hand and left.

Got the call about an hour later about how the sales manager could 'short-sell'

What are people paying for an '09 E92xi around here, should I be happy with 1000 over invoice? Appreciate any other in the same situation!

I just ordered my E92 335i from herb chambers (I kno they arn't grt) as I live in the city. I negotiated just $250 over the invoice with them. I think I gota good deal. Also consider that I got a rear wheel drive with manual transmission which would be very difficult for them to sell in Boston if I cancel my order, still they gave me this deal, I think you can do better. Ask for Joe Conway there and you can mention about my deal to him.

Went to Herb Chambers Boston as well. About $300 over invoice. If you make tons of money, and dont care about $1000/$1500 over invoice, then should not be a big deal. If not, my question is why diddnt you ask this question here before you made the deal? LOL. Short answer. You can do better. Ask for Nick Lagas at HC Boston. Good luck!

Nah, haven't pulled the trigger yet. Wagner seems ready to deal, but I'd have to order and wait a few months. Will check out FMW/HC and BMW Peabody.

Just dont know how close to invoice I can expect on an 335xi coupe here in Mass. A few hundred dollars doesn't much matter especially if it means getting stuck with Herb Chambers service dept which doesn't seem to rate high.

thanks for all the input....

I've had good experiences at BMW Gallery in Norwood. Ask for David Williamson.

Keep us posted on how this shakes out.

Yah I got an excellent deal from HC. As a prev. poster mentioned, ask for Nick Lagas.

I know HC isnt famous for treating you like a king but I did have some time to shop around (and think about the purchase overall) and HC gave the best deal.

The other dealers that treated me nice and all became rude when I started negotiating down to invoice. I didn't get what I wanted either.

i would keep shopping around at $1k above invoice, you can do better - make sure they take into account all the other fees (advertising or whatever).

OP: Please do keep us posted. I purchased my first BMW (2002 BMW 325xi) from Wagner of BMW in Shrewsbury - (and actually bought my S2000 as well from them). I had no issues with them from Buying to Servicing it.

I recently test drove a 2009 335i xDrive Coupè at Herb Chambers of BMW in Boston and they were MUCH better this time around than the last time I dealt with them 4-5 years ago.

You probably would end up getting better price from Herb than Wagner just because of they have more volume and sell a lot more than Wagner. But I got the better service (and they were *much* closer) than Herb.

So I am still torn, but I am leaning a little more towards Wagner mainly due to my previous purchases from them. I am still planning on getting a 335xi coupe within a year or so.

So do keep us posted with your experience.

Spent a while with FMW/HC in Natick last night and their price was good. they'd go for 500 over invoice plus the 250 advert (MACO) fee which seems consistent between them and Wagner. Only problem is they had no build spots left for a while.

Ill be back at Wagner tomorrow and if they come close to FMW since they apparently have some slots in the next cycle, I'll do the deal. They would be more convenient.

Funny how shocked everyone is that I have the invoice pricing, you can see the steam building up behind their eyes.....

When I was looking for my car, HC in Natick and Wagner Shrewsbury prices they quoted me were a joke compared to HC Boston. Just my experience.

I bought form FMW before they were bought by HC. I got $800 over ED invoice (basically what they seem to have quoted you), back in early 2007when BMWs actually were flying off the lots (which is no longer the case). I would try pushing them a little harder.

And you're right about dealers hating that you know the invoice price. In fact, the CA I was talking to at BMW of Peabody told me that my invoice price numbers that I had were wrong. Then I handed him a copy of the invoice pricing sheets, which changed the tone of the conversation rather quickly.

Pulled the trigger.

Got a little under 1000 over invoice. Picked Wagner just because it's the most convenient when service is needed and has a pretty good rep. Turned out they don't charge you for the HD radio when you buy the Nav, so ended up being about the price I was going to offer. It was 52,660 before taxes/tag/title. I hate car shopping and could have found a few hundred better and gone with HC, but this just made more sense in the grand scheme. Now the killer waiting......

Congrats! The wait is killer, but the reward is sweet! Also nice that you got in there under the wire on the 1/1 price increase.

Muhammad at HC in Boston is the man. He is consistently one of the highest volume salesmen in the U.S.
