Hi all -

Looking for help for a frustrating problem...

I've been running the following for months with no issue:
- CSF Intercooler
- Bootmod3 Stage 1

Car was running fine.

I went to install the BMS intake, and first cleaned the MAF sensor during the install (sprayed some generous squirts of MAF cleaner). Installed the intake, got clamps and everything tightened, and MAF sensor installed and plugged in - the car now throws a P10F3 code from my scanner:

P10F3 - Charge Air Pressure in Comparison To Barometric Pressure Too Low

And the dash/iDrive report a Drivetrain malfunction and puts me in limp mode - car hesitates, can't rev above 2k, and almost stalls.

Doing some googling here's some causes of this code:
- Faulty Boost-Pressure Sensor
- Boost-Pressure Sensor harness is open or shorted
- Boost-Pressure Sensor circuit poor electrical connection
- Faulty Digital Motor Electronics (DME)

So, like any good troubleshooter, I reversed the last changes I did to the car... removed the BMS intake and put the stock M performance intake box back on. Everything buttoned up - same issue .

I then reflashed back to the stock tune in Bootmod3 - still I get the same issues and code .

Do the above causes seem plausible? Is it possible I killed the MAF sensor after cleaning and not letting it properly dry before reinstalling? I probably waited 5-10 minutes from cleaning to reinstalling everything. I havent found much information on this code, and a bad MAF sensor being related... but only thing I think I could have screwed up with this intake install.

What are some troubleshooting steps to try or suggestions? Thanks for the help...

The bms intake is known to mess with maf readings and cause all sorts of codes. I never recommended it to anyone.

Use bootmod3 to reset the code and then reset driving adaptions and see if the problem.goes away. It likely will. Also doesn't check and make sure there isn't any leaked with anything attached to the intake etc.

I've reset/cleared all codes, and reset adaptions with the following procedure:

- Put the power on but do not start the engine.
- Floor the throttle for 30-60 seconds
- Keep the throttle to the floor and put the power OFF
- Release the throttle and wait 2 minutes.

Didnt seem to have any affect - same symptoms.

I scanned the codes again and got the following:

P0299 Turbo / Supercharger Underboost Condition

Everything in the air intake box, pipe, etc looks connected. checked charge pipe to throttle body, charge pipe to FMIC - everything is solidly connected and no holes I see. Doesnt seem like I would have disturbed anything regarding the charged air pipes...

Seems like an expensive trial and error - but maybe I should see if a new MAF clears things up?

Try disconnect MAF. If car is running normal after this, then you probably killed it while cleaning it.

Thanks for the suggestions...

- Tried unplugging the MAF sensor - no difference
- Took the car to an Indy shop to help troubleshoot
- Smoke test - negative - system is sealed up
- Switched new MAF sensor, TMAP sensor and boost sensor - no difference
- Flashed the DME with latest stock software - same result

My Indy mechanic has recommended I go to the dealership as he suspects a bad DME. He couldn't confirm a bad DME, but think he was at the end of his diagnostic capability.

The timing of a catastrophic DME failure seems suspect, so I'm just optimistic something was missed. I dont know the history of the battery when it was last replaced but maybe something as simple as that? No battery warning codes or anything however.

Just surprised that I could have screwed the pooch this bad with some not that crazy work.

Post a datalog so we can see if any sensor's values don't make sense. I am not sure which sensor measures barometric pressure.

That procedure just resets throttle adaptations, you actually have to go in and reset them. I’m sure the BM3 app allows you to do so.

Thank you all for the troubleshooting suggestions. All were helpful. I did not get a chance to take a data log.

Wanted to close the loop on a silly mistake - the BMS intake had a baggie with tightly packed in it that I did not take out. This was sucked into the turbo inlet and was causing a blockage of the system. When i swapped the stock intake back on - the baggie was not visible as it was sucked in much deeper in the system - everything thing looked normal once the stock intake was reinstalled.

Since it was downstream of the MAF - it looks like airflow was good there, but on the boost side was low and therefore threw the P10F3 error code I was seeing. I believe the datalog would have shown abnormal turbo pressure which maybe wouldnt pinpoint but confirm the problem.

Taking apart the intake and turbo inlet and looking into the pipe deep to see the baggie that was stuck.

I was really lucky this didnt ruin the turbo... very dumb mistake and something I overlooked.

I hope someone learns from my mistake at the very least...
