X4 steering wheel not straight

2022 X4 m40i with 21 inch RFT tires.

Car drives straight but I noticed the steering wheel is 8-10 degrees tilted to the right.
Had the dealer evaluate it when I took it in for my oil change at 10600 miles. Tire guy said all the tires are wearing evenly and the tech said it's the alignment. They wanted 350 to fix it. I passed for now but was wondering if I should have the alignment checked and if anyone has any suggestions in the Orange County, CA area.

Thanks

Sounds like an alignment issue. Has it been like that since you bought it? If so I would want BMW to cover the cost of fixing it because that means it wasn't set up correctly at the factory. That said, sometimes the alignment can get messed up by big potholes or really bad roads. If tire wear is even and the car doesn't pull to one side or the other I wouldn't worry about anything being bent.

If you have to pay, you can get it aligned at a good tire shop for $150. Don't need to take it to the dealer with their exorbitant price. Some places even check for free.

Sounds like you just need an alignment.

From my personal experience, I got a free alignment check done at pepboys when I swapped to summers, and I was told it's off and spent 120$ to fix it. Unfortunately, they screwed it up and it was like how you have described, car going straight but steering off center. Went back 3 times and they could not fix it, I ended up wasting my time waiting at there store.

Finally, had to take it to dealer and they fixed it to my satisfaction and literally got my peace of mind back. It was worth the 250$ I spent for the alignment and learnt the hard way.

I tried to get the dealer to cover it but they would not. Hell if they charged 250 I probably would have done it.

Thanks. I’ll look for a local shop

Dealer only covers alignment up to 3 months and ~1000 miles. Anything after that is way too much time and mileage
