Wow those prices arent bad at all, if you compare similar engine spec it looks like the price has gone up by only a few hundred bucks. Im willing to pay a few hundred for a full fledged folding hardtop!
Based on these prices my guess is that the sDrive35 with the twin turbo will cost around $45k! which would be about a 3-4k premium over a similar 3-Series coupe. Thats pretty good for a roadster which usually carry pretty high price premium for the roadster look/image. If BMW can give me the car for $45k im in! I was going to try to put a deposit in last week, but now i'm glad I didn't since we are now armed with european pricing information i'm going to go in tommorow and ask the dealer if he knows anything at all and then put my deposit down with a caveat that I will only pay up to a certain amount. I wonder if they would go for that. I will keep everyone updated! |

Looking at the BMW UK web site, if you compare the UK pricing of the New Z4 sDrive35i (37,060 GBP) against the UK pricing of the E85 Z4 3.0si SE Roadster (32,800 GBP), it's a 13% increase.
If you apply the same 13% increase to the starting price of the E85 Z4 3.0si SE Roadster in the US ($42,700), then the New Z4 sDrive35i would start at $48,246 in the US.

So for example the current Z4 E85 3.0si is 32,800 GBP but in has to be taken into context of the 3-series coupe 330i which is 31,700 GBP. The 3-series coupe 335i is 33,800. I used the 3-coupe because its the nearest car that uses the TT engine as the current E85 doesn't use that engine and so it would be comparing apples to oranges. Anyways, in the UK an SE 335i is 33,800 and an new Z4 3.5 is 37,060. That comes out to a 10% difference roughly. in the USA the 335i coupe starts at $42,000 so a 10% premium would yield the pricing of $46,200. One thing is that we don't actually have SE models in the USA and I think the UK SE model is underequiped as compared to the USA 335i so I took a little off the top of the USA price to close the gap, so I would assume the Z4 3.5 would come in under the 46,200 price and somewhere in the $45,000 range. Who knows what kind of math the BMW people use, but with M3s in the $50s, I don't see the Z4 getting to high up in price over the 335i. Just your standard roadster premium. |

Wouldn't you think that the 335i convertable would be the nearest car to the sDrive35 z4? This starts at $50,400 in the US. So would you expect the roadster to be cheeper or more? I would think the same if not more, ala the 10% premium for roadsters you speek of. Even the 328i convertable starts at $44,300. So do you think the sDrive30 would start cheaper then that? I hope so, but do not think it will, which will probably price me out of the car. I bet the 30 starts near $46-47 and the 35 in the low $50's. |

I mean I realize that the car isn't going to be sold until several months from now, closer to March and April but I mean I don't see how BMW can manage to price this car in the low 50s. Even if the economy is back to normal by then, I think people will now be more cautious with spending/banks will definitely be pickier with the loans and thus BMW won't be able to supply such inflated prices. BMW is having issues right now with M3 leaving the lots, I feel like half the responsibility of that was that they had priced it so high in the first place (A loaded M3 convertible could've placed you with the 6 series and 7 series). Maybe now they will realize that pricing in NA should be more realistic? Iono maybe I'm just being biased because right now the price of this car determines whether it becomes a reality or not and I am simply finding any excuse to hope for the best.

I would think the prices would increase by 10% or so to reflect the fact that the car has more kit/technology/bhp etc, and to maintain it's position amongst its rivals, but no more than that, and no less either.

The next thing is how much the goodies will add to that price, e.g., Sport Package featuring Adaptive M Suspension with Electronic Damping Control (must-have).

Well, in the UK they list the 335i E93 starting at 38,110 for the base model E93 which is 1k GBP more then they list for the E89 Z4 3.5. So it seems BMW in the UK believes the Z4 3.5 slots inbetween a 335i coupe and convertible. Again the UK models are very stripped as compared to the USA models so I think you have to add a little bit to the value when considering a US model. If that holds true in the USA (hopefully!!!) then the Z4 3.5 should be between $42,000 (335i E92) and $50,000 (335i E93) which again puts us in the $45k-48k range. Im hoping for the cheaper but who really knows; in this case I think market forces will have a big impact, but I'm still guessing and hoping for $45k for the starting price of the Z4 3.5. Don't jynx it! j/k |

I find the pricing of 35i quite steep, too. I would have imgained they would price the new 35i more or less the same as the old 3.0si simply because non-turbo 3.0 is not powerful enough these days...
And unfortunately one has to add another EUR2300 for the 7 speed gearbox. Quote:
