XI + Snow = Drifting FTW!
So, on my way home from work this morning around 4am I stopped in a empty parking lot and driffted the crap out of the XI.
I must have wasted 1/4 tank of gas. Needless to say, it was the most fun I've had with the car since I got it 8 months ago. This car is definitely RWD biased. It was amazing to see the rear kicked out and able to hold it there for as long as I wanted too. The drifts was so easy to control! Always predictable! And even though I'm running on Michelin PS2's, the car handled pretty darn good. Anybody else having fun with their XI? Keep it safe.

No, but I have fun in my RWD DAILY , lets see you do that on a dry day! I remember when I did something similar when the ground was damp, fun fun.

Well considering that it's wet here more than dry, I still win! But will will take that challenge on a dry day too. Let me know.

Ive played in the snow in many vehicles, awd, fwd, and rwd. But for some reason Im scared to do it in the BMW. I guess I dont want to mess up and have a huge repair bill.

Just find an big empty parking lot and try it. It builds reflexes. Trust me, the car is very easy to control.

We had 18" of super light snow last night. I couldn't believe our school district didn't call a snow day. We are expecting another 12-18" more today. The XI drove through the untracked 18" no problem. The snow was coming over the hood of the car. It is a tank with good snow tires.

E90ice, definitely get a pair of snow tires for your car. The Michelin PS2s are in no way suited for snow. Once the powder falls, those things are like sleds; there's no traction whatsoever. The xDrive will help you get going, but will not help you stop! Plus the snow tires will turn the 335xi into a veritable tank. Goes through damn near everything!
Again, please consider getting some snow tires if you're going to be driving in snow. I'd hate to see another "Got in an accident" thread on here, as we get too many as it is. Have fun, but stay safe out there.
