I just had the WORST experience in my BMW

I do not want it anymore

Im coming home from work doing 30 mph (speed limit is 40). It's snowing bad I go to brake at an intersection and it wouldnt stop. I slammed the brake pedal as hard as my foot could push it. The little flashy yellow thing kept coming on. I was so scared. The car finally stopped about 1/4 of the way into the intersection. When I went to gas it forward slowly the flashy thingy kept coming on and I couldnt go straight.

What should I do if that happens again.

Wait a second... you tried to drive your car with summer tires in the snow, and expected that traction control would defy physics and guide you on your merry way??

Wow, didnt me and a bunch of other people already post in your winter tire thread? I mean come on, we all said this would happen and it did. Im glad you were scared, because now you know what it feels like to almost kill yourself and others. Have more respect for other peoples lives and show a little responsibility.

Winter tires with empty parking lot practice, or dont drive.

Im glad that no one was hurt.

If that happened that kinda means you're driving to fast for the weather maybe...

Also i have a xi and when there is ice i get the traction light and hard time braking with snow tires. If you have a i thats kinda obvious its going to slip. Should be thankful RWD can even handle snow. I had a g35 RWD and couldnt go outside when it was snowing period and had hard time in the rain sometimes..

well, brake further before the intersection
and when accelerating, go easy on the throttle,
try starting in 2nd gear if it is auto

Have more respect?? Driving under the speed limit and asking for advice on driving isnt respect? FUCK off. How much more responsibility can I show?

When you accelerate, you have to do it SLOWLY or the traction control is going to prevent your from going anywhere.

BTW; I'm pretty sure we already told you it was going to be bad.

Driving under the speed limit in snow means nothing. You dont know how to drive in winter so you shouldnt be. Taking other people lives into your hands because you dont practice and are in RWD car is not being responsible.

Winter tires in a parking lot practicing is responsible, almost killing yourself and others is not. Not being able to handle constructive criticism after we told you this would happen in the other thread is pretty childish.

Sarcasm? Or did you really not know that? Serious question.

You need a lesson on how ABS works. If you feel the brake pedal pulsating, that means you are about to lose traction. Pressing it harder is going to override the computer. The brake pedal pulses to keep the wheels from locking up.

Rule #1:

If what you are doing doesn't work try something else.

Braking hard locked up.the wheels. Once they stopped spinning and started sliding applying them harder will not stop the car. In that situation you need to ease off on the brakes and get the wheels turning again and then gently apply the brakes or pump them gently. Theoretically the ABS should do it for you but when there is very little traction it may not. Also when driving in slippery conditions anticpate that a light may change and start slowing down early.

You know what. I think its pretty responsible that Im even asking. Instead of just assuming. Today was my first day driving in snow and I didnt wreck so I think I did okayish. I didnt even come close to killing anyone. You have no idea where I was or what road I was on.

i've tried a few... dunlop, pirelli, bridgestone..... these are the best i've tried...

http://www.vredestein.com/Banden_Ban...2&BandtypeID=7

they are priced very well, come with a side wall factory warrantee.. no need to purchase one from your tire dealer. they will completely transform your car for snow driving. i am driving a Z4M with 18 snow and it drives wonderfully in the snow.
