E90 330/335 or G8 GT?

Hey Guys,

So Im shopping for a sedan...Im trollin the autotrader for a CPO 330 or a 335. I noticed used 335s are falling in price, close to what many 330s are going for...

I am also noticing that used G8 GT prices are falling like rocks..lol.no surprise there..the G8 GT is tempting bc (Well only the 09 for me) it is much more roomier, power, nice big trunk, and maintenance should be more forgiving in the future..

So what do you think? I used CPO 330/335 will be $21,000- $31,000 where as a G8 GT will be $25,000 or less. (Im talking used 09s bc I want the satellite- a used 08 GT can be had for $20K now)...

Im finding myself saying "I would like to own a BMW over a Pontiac"..I owned LS1 TransAms, Mustang Cobras, etc...I think its time for a change..

have you driven any of those cars yet? It sounds like you are more of a muscle car guy, and you might miss not having a big displacement motor. But maybe you'll like the smoothness and refinement that the bmw's have. Either way, you need to drive them yourself and see if it's for you.

Your comparing a BMW to a Pontiac?

Seriously though, go drive them. Try a 335 and see how you like it. Pontiac probably wont even be around a few months from now.

You would buy a car from a co. that is going to have to file for bankruptcy or just close doors on a brand?

So what will you do for service and maint.?

Stick w/ the roundel

You should drive both. Many publications say the G8 has "almost" got BMW moves. If you enjoy big displacement torque and hp, the G8 may be better suited for you. If you are looking for the best combination of luxury and sport, go with BMW.

Good Points..

I dont think they will close their doors. The G8 had some awesome reviews, and its kinda in the same class (sedan)

I wouldnt miss any power. My DD is a 2000 Accord V6 with 200 hp.. the 330 is plenty at 255, geez it tops out at 150 w/sport package anyhow..

^^ Some good points above. There is a distinct difference between some brands, and certainly between BMW and Pontiac. It all depends on what you like and are looking for. When I was shopping for my 335i convertible, my wife informed me that Pontiac made a hardtop convertible but cost a lot less than the E93. To appease her and show her how open-minded I was, I drove both and ended up spending a lot more for the BMW. It's a totally different driving experience, and I have no regrets. It's also the only car I've loved more a year later than I did when I first got it.

I guess im thinking which car will give me more bang for my buck-

Im lost..part of me says a 330 will be more than I need- But the 335s out there are so tempting..

Does anyone here think their E90 is too cramped or small? Can you fit two adults in the back ok?

Has anyone had any luck negotiating a 100K miles service warranty with the powertrain?

Bmw is probably better.
however, i have driven a Lumina SS (Equivalent of G8 GT in the Middle East) and honestly its a really fun car too! test drive both 335 and G8, you might be surprised.

I'm pretty sure once you try out a 335i its hard to be satisfied with anything else unless it is faster, plus the amount of cheap tuning options out there that are available when your 335 isn't fast enough is a great option to have.

Have fun test driving!

When I was back on home on R&R from Iraq

I drove a lot of cars:

335i, 135i, Hyundai Genesis, Infiniti...

And I was still really impressed w/ the 335

Your local dealers should have plenty of CPO cars on the lot that come with the 100k mile powertrain warranty. They did offer me an extended service contract, but it seemed expensive, so I declined it.

I test drove G8 GT - the ride wasn't exciting. The fit and finish even less. Pontiac... 'nuf said.

I don't mind the look of the G8

The interior is something to be desired that is for sure

Hope the GXP version is better is GM can stay afloat long enough to make it

330i is ridiculously slow, don't get one if you want some get up and go....

IMO, 135 has edge over 335 in handling and acceleration departments.

I would recommend Evo X GSR as an alternative. This car handles like a dream. I think you can bargain it into your price range nowadays.

Hmm this is a new one comparing a BMW to a Pontiac??

Usually its 3series vs. A4 vs. G35/G37 Vs. C-Class.....

I wouldn't touch a domestic with a 20ft pole

G8 = POS.
I had one as a rental and it was junk, drive was sloppy, interior was typical domestic cheapo materials and just overall horrible fit and finish.

G8 Pros:
- Hmm cannot think of any

G8 Cons:
- It's a GM, if they made quality cars to begin with they would not be in this mess.
- Re-sale value
- Crappy interior
- Sloppy handling

I think the decision is pretty obvious.
