New to me 530e CPO question

Hello, finally get back into a bmw after 3yrs. Picked up a low mileage 2018 538e with all options I wanted. I was registering for the mybmw app and noticed that this which says it has CPO until 2023? It wasn't marketed as a Cpo vehicle.

Previous owner probably bought CPO and the warranty carried over to you. I think CPO warranty is tied to the vehicle not the owner. When I bought my E90 used a couple of years ago, the previous owner had paid for CPO warranty and sold it after a year. I got to reap the benefits despite having never paid for it. More than likely the same thing applies in this case. Enjoy it I guess

did you have any issue registering it on mygarage as it was preowned?

I have a vin i am looking into at the moment, but when i enter the vin, the picture of the car appears, but then I am not able to "add vehicle", as it spins out then errors out.

Only thing I can think of is that it might still be tagged to someone else's account? as it allows me to add other production numbers or other vins without any issues.

It's your lucky day! I had a similar experience years ago on an E38 purchase from a local used car dealer that most likely picked up cars at an Auction. He had no idea it was a CPO, nor did I until I brought it to the dealer post sale for a repair and it was "free".

Always nice when that happens.

Also keep in mind that you have a 10Y/100K mile battery warranty and a 15Y/150K mile warranty on various components under CARB rules. Assuming the OC in your sidebar is Orange County, CA anyway.

You could extend the CPO since it is still active, but that’s likely too expensive to make sense.

Yes located in OC, charging for the 1st time tonight, do I need to have the car unlock to charge? I noticed the charging lights off when I lock the car. My car is parked outside.

Sorry for my ignorance but how do you go to that option? Can't seem to find it. Lol.

Car can be locked when charging. When locked it locks the charger into the port so someone can't just pull it out.

I street park my 530e as well.

I just look under "warranty info" under mybmw when I added my vehicle.

The extra CARB warranty information won’t show on the site. It is covered under the asterisk for the federal coverage noting that a small number of states have expanded coverage.
