Hrmmm I'm also interested... I did the MOST iPod retrofit this week and am going in for the retrofit programming on Saturday there, hopefully they don't give me any grief about installing it myself.

I cant remember what I went in for but I had downpipes in my car at the time.. I think it might have been for either a oil change or a speaker problem.. Nonetheless, they didn't flag me or anything.. I'm sure that it was obvious that I wasn't stock because you could smell the gasoline from the rear. You might be able to pull it off but its always better to be sate than sorry.
Oh and btw, you should lock your V1 in the glove compartment or take it with you. I always took my x50 out whenever I dropped it off for service or warranty work. (just in case they try and pull a fast one on you) |

Having mods and going in for regular service shouldn't be an issue.
Where most clients run into problems with modified cars is when they have a service issue that "could" be caused by said modifications. |

Hey how much are they charging you for the programming? I wanted to install sirius myself and they wanted over 2 hours time for the programming. That's a lotta bucks.

They didn't know how long it would take - but everyone else has been paying for 1 hour of labor at other dealerships, so I don't expect to pay any more than that. It's just uploading firmware, if all goes well and I didn't mess up anything during the installation

I had it serviced there a few times with PROcede installed and they didn't say anything. As long as you are not too obvious...
PS. 1900 posts...Whoa!

They charged me for 1 hour of labor to program it, but were very cool about it. They said I was the first person that installed the iPod kit and just came in for programming. They said that most installations were taking about an hour and a half on average, but some took longer because the programming didn't go smoothly. It's a pretty straight forward DIY and I would highly recommend that you take it on yourself if you are okay with installing light mods and following directions carefully.

intake shouldn't be a problem
i've taken my car to bellevue and northwest BMWs with my intake installed, and one thin northwest was even nice enough to clean it for me, heh |
