Keyed twice in four weeks

I do not take up two parking spaces, or park in handicap spots. I park in my garage at night. I do not drive aggressivley. No angry ex-girlfriends. Very annoying!

I am middle aged. Not 'flashy'. Follow the proper car parking 'rules'. Not sure what I did...

This happened in Barrington. Same person for sure... Very deep scratch, all the way down to the metal both times. Someone either hates me or hates the car. It only takes one crazy person.

The Barrington police are very pleasant, but there isn't much they can do. It is a felony though, and they would really like to catch the bastard.

anmcguire I love the Evanston area. Funny, I've always felt Evanston would be a great place to live, but tough on cars.

jealousy? i think so.

I am sorry to hear that though.

That really sucks man, hope it stops soon.

I had some idiots throw a plastic bottle of soda at my car and put $600 damage to the hood, punks. I couldn't go after them, it was raining and I couldn't turn around in time..good thing too.

Ha, I've had one minor ding in 9 months of ownership from an uninsured lunatic. My previous car, a Z4, was side swiped hit & run style last super bowl Sunday, due to a drunken football fan I'm sure. That incident amounted to $2400.00 worth of damage, so I guess Evanston can be hard on cars, but not as bad as Chicago where everyone likes to play bumper cars while parallel parking.

Your car's intentional keying though... well that's something altogether different, because you *know* there was malice involved. Again, sorry to hear about it, did both incidents happen in the same lot?

I had the first one repaired by a body shop in Wauconda. They did a damn nice job and will get my business again. (It was about $850 total, including blending the hood...)

What worries me, is that I do not know for sure exactly where this happened (We have narrowed it to three locations). It was the same person, definately. First time it was left front. Yesterday it was right front. Similar length and depth of scratch. The body shop mentioned that someone really had to put some serious pressure to get it so deep.

yeah, youre going to HAVE to purchase a video camera dude...its the only way. it worth the purchase price to have an eagle eye on it, that way you can BUST the fu@ker doing this stuff, not to mention most likely get compensated for the previous acts as well.

you must have done SOMETHING to piss that dude off...sometimes it takes the smallest thing to set someone off....like you said, lotta weirdos around. it only takes one to mess up your ride.

Man that sucks. I think someone might be after you. Where in Barrington did this happen? I was raised up in Hoffman Estates not too far from motorwerks.

These people got nothing better to do than vandalize peoples properties. They will get whats coming to them in the end. Hope all turns out well for you.

^^ I wouldn't worry about the whole 'karma' aspect of it. Someone already has to be living a shit life to actually vandalize someone else's car like that...

a few years ago, i had my car keyed twice by whom i suspect to be the same person. it was only a toyota but still hurt as hell. after the second attack on the hood, i purchased the extended battery for my camcorder and set it up on the dashboard and i covered it with some newspaper and junks so he wouldn't notice.

this guy, on the third attack, decided to key the passenger door instead. whether he knew the presense of camera or not, i'll never know. i ran the camcorder that night and almost at the end of tape, the camera did capture the sound of the car being keyed but not the culprit. i still remember that horrible sound of my car being keyed.

never happened again afterward. he might have found a new car he can key with. who knows. i hope that bastard rot in hell.

the car long gone as i have another toyota now.

i feel your pain.
