What fluid for Active Steering equipped cars?
I noticed the power steering fluid was a little low on my E90
I popped the reservoir and did a sniff test and it smells like hydraulic fluid, Its not ATF by any count, I also shone a flashlight in there for color (even though that doesn't really matter for hydraulic fluid as CAT Hyd Fluid is blue and Castrol ISO is purple and Volvo is yellow) but anyway its a yellow color so that ruled out funny smelling ATF, So, What does it take? and where do you get it? part number for BMW? etc remember this is for Active Steering, not regular, Active Steering comes with a different reservoir

It should say CHF 11S on the reservoir. You can get it from the dealer. I haven't personally seen it anywhere else. But I know that other brands use it to.

Yeah and a side note, DO NOT MIX ATF and Pentosin.

I have found CHF 11S at NAPA before, usually costs ~$30 for the can. All BMWs I have owned take this for the PS fluid, so I doubt having A/S is any different. If in doubt check the cap of the PS reservoir, it should be printed on there.
