MGB has gone!

Took it out for a good hoon today after the snow had gone, noticed it was very, very down on power, the window wipers weren't working, car kept jumping out of third gear?! and the heating system was not working at all, car was not idling right either.

Rang up man I bought it off and said I wasn't happy with some things he said that he'd sorted on the car, he asked me what I wanted him to do, I told him to fix the problems he said he'd fixed and he said well I'd rather give you your money back??? Never heard that one before.

Anyway I decided to take the money

Back to the BMW 7 days a week until I find the next one, return of the '44??

WHAT THE.. Did you not test drive the car before buying, did you not go over it with a fine tooth comb,

Lucky the guy is a decent chap. Hope the next car is better for you.

Long story - bought it from a little garage in Sheffield so called test drive was a go out on your own job, had no clue where I was going, so couldn't get up to any speed.

Heater and wipers where repaired as part of sale hmmmm

Not sure why it kept jumping out of third, not done it before??! but started today.

I didn't ring him up to have my money back at all infact I'm really sad to see it go but when he said I either took the money or nothing (he would not repair the car??) I took the money.

1bhp a B is nearly 100bhp

Old cars, told ya so yep but has it put me off??? Yeah right.

944 is my main one that I'm looking for would also really like an E30 Alpina though too

MGs are such lovely cars but in one way I am getting fed up with the continuous maintenance needed - ALL THE TIME! You don't get any rest from them.

Back to Porsche or BMW I think Not that they are bad cars in anyway they are faster, handle better just don't look quite so lovely or have the "oooo look what a nice car" image!

what a nice car for the money to.

Set of 19" a drop and some tints along with blacklines (not forgetting a tuning box) gets you a quick, reliable good looking motor.

Really didn't realise they are that cheap! An absolute bargain for someone considering how much they are new, as Carlos said it would look lovely with a few little tweaks. I like loadsa revs though and the sound of a petrol engine (no offence to diesel).

Fed up about this and to be quite honest I can't be bothered to look at the moment not sure that I want another MG (that sounds really bad but my first B was a bloody nightmare, my Midgie had a throttle problem no one could solve and had no heating whatsoever, the only car that has ever scared me, due to throtle!! and this B has turned a corner for me) theres something about MGs most certainly but for me that something is just not there at the moment.

Want something that is fun and isn't too slow (I've had fast cars now I'm craving a bit of speed again - knew I should have bought that 540i manual off my mum )

At the moment it's either sacrify the classic looks and image and go for fast(er) and some heating or forget about my speed freak tendencies and go for the classic styling, what to do?!

Don't believe I can find a car which does both jobs for £8K. If it was £18K no, scrap that, £12K would do, I'd go and buy myself a 964 or a Boxster S or an M3 (either E30 or E46) but with £8K theres just things like very scrappy 911 SC (been there, done that with a better car), Boxster 2.5 (yawn, had an S would no way have a 2.5), BMW E36 M3 (not for me, not a fan of it also so many about, friend owns one), Lotus Elise ... actually hold on a minute are we onto something?? TVR Chimaera ... oh yay risking it as only car??!

I actually like the Integra Type-R (don't ask why, I like really revvy cars!) but it's FWD and jap (which means horrible plastic interiors)

Insurance is not usually a problem for me! Actually that could be a bit expensive really, most I've ever paid - £3000 for my Boxster S aged 18 bit dear really and a bit of a silly way to spend £3K! Not willing to spend that again.

Porsche, not being critcal just curious why would a student want to blow £8k on a car? If you are studying surely life is hard enough without spending £8k on a car and loads on fuel every month.

Can't you just keep the 5 series as it owes you nothing and run it into the ground whilst you're studying.

If you change your cars every 3 months is the thrill of the purchase more exciting than the actual experience of ownership or are they all just a bit pants?

Life is OK actually, not half as hard as I thought it would be!! Generate enough income (some from buying and selling cars) to spend it on a nice (to me) car.

Running cars into the ground just isn't me and I think after the winter I'd find the 5 series utterly soul distroying, with more power it would be good though Just very slow and not economical with it so sort of doesn't make sense if you know what I mean! Do find it very practical, would have one again (but not a 520i) something like a 540i manual would be great or even a 530i manual.

You could say so, I like buying then selling cars, not a car keeper couldn't imagine driving the same car for over about 8 months, no matter what it was!! So many cars I want you see!

Just been looking through PH classifieds and thinking if I kept the money saved it and bought something good say this time next year, hopefully some prices will have come down and my cash will have gone up!

So thinking on that spectrum anyone know what this is (would swap 520i for it and run it as only car until I'd got some more cash together) also any info on it, I think it would be loadsa fun and practical for this and that (seem to be the only one at uni with a car??!) so here goes -
